11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

Hes a very Arjen Robben type of winger. Dribbling and acceleration but he’s also started adding the cutting in on his right foot and trying to whip it into the corner. Similar to Robben when he did it with his left.

That’s only started happening this season. Every time he’s tried it the defender has struggled to stop it.

His effort last night was the same it was going bottom corner apart from a very good Courtois save.
Doku was cutting in from the left with his right foot ,and scoring for City...,back in August 2023, West ham away ,..so I disagree.it hasn't only started happening this season.
This was right at the start of his Manchester City career.....

In the Champions league Doku 14.8km….6th in the list of Manchester City players. Bernardo tops the list with 23.8km.

For speed Haaland tops the list with top speed of 33.3km/h, Doku in joint 7th along with Dias @ 31.9km/h.

Since you are a Madrid fan Tchoumeni has covered the most distance @ 31.5km and Valverde with the highest top speed of 35.8km/h.

Man I would love valverde.

his off ball movement beside his finishing is all he needs to work on. Also he doesn’t like running at defenders in open space he purposely slows our game down to get that burst of acceleration . It’s a 2handed sword
That’s his strength. He is rapid over 5-10 yards. He has electric acceleration but his top speed isn’t that great and he cant sustain it so running in open space isn’t effective.

I have seen him doing it. But he's most of the time close to the box, so it's natural that his passes are short.
i know, i know. I couldnt sleep and i was trying to imagine Doku hitting a raking diagonal from left wing to right. Some players you just cant imagine doing certain things. Doesn't change my opinion of him in any way.

Its not only that, its the fact that he is barely involved in the pressing upfront that bothers me. I can understand he doesn't have the stamina to go up and down the pitch all the time, but if youre going to be excused from tracking back, then at least do one of the following

1. Press upfront (not halfheartedly)
or
2. Make runs off the damn ball

He may be similar to Ronaldinho in style, but hes not as good to warrant just jogging on the left wing island until the ball comes to him or standing around in the middle.
Doku, Haaland and Cheeki are all shit poor at this :(

Is there anymore entertaining pair in football than Doku and Cherki?

We might not currently be as all-conquering as we were, but being able to watch these two every week is something a bit special in itself.

His hold up play was excellent but he still holds the ball far too long and has zero end product. Some of the good positions he wasted were baffling, simple 5 yard passes were on and he just doesn't see it.

Doku was involved in both goals at Madrid: won the corner from which NOR scored, and found Nico for the cross to Haaland, which resulted in a penalty. Virtually all of our chances were created from the left side where NOR and Doku tormented Real's defence.

Doku being able to slow play down when necessary, hold the ball, and win fouls, is a very positive trait that makes us for some of that things Grealish could provide

One of our biggest assets this season. He’s electric on the pitch. I can’t understand how some people don’t see everything he creates for us every game. Would be good if he’d keep getting his scoring numbers up but he’s on the right track

If we are saying from 6/7 great positions, winning a corner and playing a 10 yard through ball are good end product then I don't know what to say.

Just look at this, not a single successful pass into the box, 0.01xA.

Doku is a headache for everyone we play. I'd bet statistically he's lost more assists due to poor finishing than the rest of our squad combined, Just sayin"...

Ironically I think he's took part of Jacks best traits and has started using them to his advantage ie using his body and strength to win important free kicks and hold up play, whilst having the tools Jack didn't possess, ie burst of speed and trickery to beat a man.
I'm happy with the result, best of both worlds. Long may it continue.

Also, forced a fine save from Courtois, won corners and fouls, completed passes that led to dangerous crosses (at least 3 to NOR, one resulted in the pen, another in a great chance for Haaland).

Also, the way you put it sounds like Doku lacks end product in principle. Actually, his end product in big games is second only to Haaland's: 2 assists vs United, 1 goal vs Napoli, 1 assist vs Dortmund, 1 goal vs Liverpool, created chances at Arsenal...

Teams are so reluctant to leave him one-on-one that he occupies at least 2 players every time he makes a run into the final third. He's an absolute menace.
