11 | Jeremy Doku - 2025/26

I think he does track back as much as he can. He just lacks the stamina to do it continually. He's been superb of late but is really a 60-70 minute player in end to end games.

Completing so many take-ons is tiring. If he was recycling the ball instead of sprinting, he would last 90 minutes. His intensity is on a different level to anyone's else.

Still, he played over 80 minutes at Arsenal, 90 vs Napoli 3 days earlier. If the result was just 1:0 City, he would have played more minutes. Pep is managing his playing time brilliantly.

Those saying, he was fantastic BUT...are being negative. There's no BUT regarding one of the greatest big-game performances in the last 10 years or so.

Seems like another player winning over the blues on here that said he was wank, Seems some will never learn that some players we buy need time, was fucking electric yesterday and will get better and better, but he will frustrate at times it's the way he plays

Neville uttered one of those rehearsed one liners when he claimed that playing against Doku and playing with Doku would both be challenging

There's probably a grain of truth in that, especially when deciding whether to pass or shoot, or using the runner as a decoy etc

Definitely his best performance though

Agreed. No buts in how good he was. As close to a 10/10 performance I've seen from one of our wingers in terms of all round contribution.

He's still inconsistent, but the peaks are getting higher and the distance between them is getting smaller month by month.

It's starting to click now, he's pure chaos but he's learning to slow it down but still keep that unpredictability, that's all to do with Pep, I'd even say Kompany who had a few words in the summer with him has helped.

To be honest it's the way every single winger who is a touch and dribble winger I have ever seen play.Touch and timing are so fine that the margin between success and failure in a game is far smaller for a winger than virtually anyone else.

His forward passing is excellent. His shooting imo is excellent. His work rate is excellent. His close-control and dribbling are incredible.

His pull-backs are irratic. His crossing isn't great.

Imo we should not be playing him close to the end-line because he is at his best when running at the target himself. So I hope we see him playing him more centrally in a free role or still wide but with an overlapping full-back so he is the one attacking the goal as opposed to feeding others from pull-backs or crosses.

Wait, I thought Palmer at that time was much better and more consistent than Doku - he was.

You were telling everyone that Doku was shit - so you might have been better digging your own posts up ;)
The discussion wasn't who is better at the time because a plain boxscore watching can decide that. The question was did City make a mistake for selling Palmer and buying Doku. No because Doku was always going to be the better player regardless of form or temporary development curve.

And no I'm not telling everyone that Doku was shit - he is my favorite player, duh. I just have a tendency to overanalyze and I believe he can be a BDO contender if he corrects some flaws - mainly his off ball runs and motor.

Great performance, a joy to watch at the moment. It doesn't always come off, but when he gets the ball you expect things to happen now and it's a pleasure seeing him destroy the opposition. This City side is great to watch so even if we might not be the finished article at yet, at least the fun factor is back.

Yeah, you can see he's improved a lot this season. He passes much better in good opportunities now, doesn't always come off but for example in this match he gave a perfect pass to Foden who unfortunately was clumsy but the ball was perfect. By the way, our more direct play probably helps him too. In this match as well it wasn't all tippy-tappy left and right. It's clear our play is more direct.

I did that today. 12 months ahead of time. Thank you.

I do hate it when fans cannot see genius in front of their eyes. Especially when they say they support that team.
Look, what happened in the past doesn't matter here because the guy has improved and hopefully will continue to improve. And yes, he was shit before, that's the truth, no need to sugarcoat it, you have to call it out when it's shit and also when it's good. Nothing wrong with that, mate.

He's never been shit. Raw? Yes. Shite? No.
