I don't like it,because i agree.Much like Gundogan,he isn't on the same wavelength,or on the same level in terms of pace and movement,he's very much a weak link in our fluidity.

We have to source an upgrade,opposition managers will just target him.

He does seem like a nice lad though so it`s not all bad.

Even though Cancelo isnt a leftback he`s better in that position hands down than Zinchenko.

And nowhere near Ake in truth.

I mostly agree with your points.

Zinchenko is a consideration at LB at our club simply because the alternatives are so much worse (other than Ake whom I believe is a decent LB alternative but who should not be first choice in a team wanting to be world best).

Cancelo is better going forward than Zinchenko by far - but Zinchenko is better than Cancelo on defense by far - which isn't saying much - because Zinchenko on defense is a liability.

Zinchenko is often out-of-position - lacks pace to make up ground - often fails to stop crosses - when forced to clear - sometimes punts the ball high overhead in the middle of the field up for grabs -

On offense, Zinchenko is often unable to make a good cross (but sometimes he makes a spectacular cross - just like the blind squirrel in search of a nut).

In transition his first touch is very often a drag-back/pivot towards our own goalie and then a safe back pass - even when a killer forward pass is obviously on and which would likely lead to a goal-scoring opportunity.

Zinchenko isn't a terrible player - he is, however, not at all gifted enough for a role in a club striving to win the Champion's League.

As far as personality goes though - I agree - Zinchenko seems to be very hard working and very loyal to our club - in this respect he is a first class human being.

If he wants to continue making money with his 1m+ followers Instagram account he needs to grow up. That post was an act of a little boy offended by a little "boo" from couple unknown drunken fans, not from a grown up.

Personally I respect him for it. Call it a hissy fit if you want, I see someone standing up to arseholes and giving reasonable people a reality check. Suppose it can be seen both ways but social media has allowed peoples darkest thoughts to be expressed without any comeback.

That post was him speaking up against the Ukrainian equivalent of the wankers we have here who think that making threats towards player's families is the equivalent of "a little boo" and fair game.

But sure, he's the little boy.

Oleksandr Zinchenko has not tested positive for Covid-19, however the whole Ukraine camp is now in quarantine after nine positive tests in just four days.

Medical lead for Lucerne, Roger Harstall on whether Ukraine must remain quarantined for ten days: “Not necessarily. Under certain conditions of the BAG [Swiss public health authority] there's the possibility to leave the hotel and travel home.”

I am not sure how long when he returns home
 
Has played his part in a successful period but I think he is done. The expectation is that young players get better as they get older, he is arguably a worse player than he was 2 years ago.
 
i know he is only a backup and LB is not his natural position but that is where he mainly plays and he just isnt good enough, far too slow in decision making and his crossing is 100% accurate to the opposition
 
The worst performance in a City shirt I have seen in 57 years of watching City.I get frustrated when City fans tell me its not his usual position ... but a fucking half decent midfielder can find his own fucking player with a pass so why cant this useless fanny ??
 
Honestly think he wouldn't be that bad if he was molded into one of the defensive midfield positions, for which we now play 2 every game it seems, this wide LB doesn't work as he is too slow and can't react to counters quick enough.

I think this also means Ake isn't really an option as LB anymore due to Pep using fullbacks wide: Walker, Mendy and Cancelo are the only viable options.
