He's a great young player, with a great attitude, he's not a left back, he's a midfielder, but he does what is asked of him wherever he plays for City, he'll captain his country soon enough, they think that much of him, and it'll be as a midfielder.

He played +50 games for City

More than 45 of them as a LB
Therefore he is a LB.

If you think Zinchenko plays a traditional LB role, you’re simply not looking. Both Cancelo & Zinchenko, it is a modified LDM position, which only plays LB if and when the opposition has an actual RW who likes to go down the line.

Even in defence, our FBs play so narrow as to be more RCB/LCB than the traditional players you see elsewhere.

In other teams, a LB is a player who blunts the RW and knocks the ball down the line for his own LE.

At City, Zin plays as a modified LM, who has to cover marauders down his side, while breaking forward down the line, ensuring he maintains possession of the ball unless and until he is ready to play a ball into the danger zone from goal lines to penalty spot.

He’s clearly a good player, with the possibility of being one of the best left sided utility players in the world.

Personally, I do think we need another LB, but I’d much rather see us develop one than pay stupid money for another one. Save the money for the “big positions” where you simply have to pay big money for world class talent.

Zin may just have saved us £50M. Maybe it’s time to spend a little of it on extending his contract?
