Booked on 9 pm train back, going to be chaos after the game all trying to get back to Euston, FA dont give a frigg about supporters, should have been at the latest 4pm

How much does it cost for each ticket? Do you need to take out a mortgage for the privilege of standing throughout your journey?

Wouldnt it be better, if not cheaper, to get an open return?

I'm travelling back to Leeds, fortunately the last train is 10pm. If anyone misses their train it might be an option to travel back there and then onto to Manchester. It would be expensive and a very late night but probably cheaper than trying to find somewhere to stay in London.

We used to do that regularly for midweek games in London. About a 2 hr 30 wait in Leeds and then back in Piccadilly just after 4.

The guards on that East Coast tend to be a bunch ot twats though so you may have ticketing issues if you've just got a Manchester to London return.

What about to Liverpool, and then onto Manchester?

I was there for the grand national and although thetrainline.com said the last train was 22:30pm, when we were at Lime St station there were trains back until 23:45pm and possibly beyond.

Even earlier. The only way you'll get back by train if you miss that 2100 is the 2200 to Leeds from Kings Cross that the other fella is on about.

Just checked actually.

Kings Cross 2200
Leeds 0046

Leeds 0310
Piccadilly 0402

Yeah, it gets into Leeds at about 00.45 but next train to Manchester isn't until 3.10 am.

I've already booked the 11.30pm Megabus home as a contingency but hoping it doesn't come to that.

I'm not been funny but how many people out of the 80k will this really affect? If the game finishes at normal time 5pm, how many trains are there between then and 9pm, I know more people would stand a chance of getting back but these trains have limited numbers anyway, it wouldn't be so bad if it was just us, but throw Wigan in the mix and a lot of people would be disappointed anyway regardless. Totally agree is a shit time for ko but what ever time it's at would not please everyone.

The game won't finish 15 minutes before it kicks off!

Assuming it doesn't go to extra time and/or pens, does anyone know what ought to be the best and quickest route back to Euston? There looks to be loads of underground services from Wembley Park to Euston Square but Wembley Park is on the other side of the stadium to where the City fans will be located so would a mad dash to Wembley Central and the overground to Euston be a better bet? Have to bear in mind that whichever option we plump for we will need to stick with.

That would be fucking brilliant for boozing that, shame im staying over now!

The worrying thing is though is that it sounds like thousands of people are going to be trying for that one train, it's not as if people are discussing choices as there is only one. That goes for both City and Wigan.

Also, thetrainline is only bringing up an 8:30pm train, the one after that has a duration of 11 hours. Is it only showing up on the Virgin website?

How many people do these trains hold tops?

Think I'll hire a boat and sail back!

another FA joke statement

"small majority travel by train"

if there was more trains on it would beat car/fuel - bus - airplanes or any other method!

all for the americans and asian markets!
