Since I don't find him as impressive as most do, I figured I should point out when he has a fantastic game

Thought he was considerably better than usual yesterday.

Try harder it's not that hard to see. Laporte is a class CB that had an unfortunate long term injury and took a long time to get back to his best. He was healthy last year but somehow fell out of favor.

When the bandwagoning fans latched onto the Dias-Stones partnership, exclaiming it the greatest pairing ever coupled with Laporte's desire to leave, the small minded ones soon labeled him as some unwanted superfluous player. That is not even close to the truth. You must be either a very petty person or completely uninformed to even consider Laporte as a left over.

I've never understood this fetishism of the Dias-Stones partnership like it's some secret technique wanted by all the righteous sects(that's wuxia allusion for the uninitiated). It's not any better than Kompany and Laporte in my book. The pairing in our brilliant 2018-19 season and my joint favorite City season ever along with the Centurion season.

His ability with the ball at his feet has never been in question, a brilliant distributor of the ball , but since his knee injury as a defender he looked a shadow of the once outstanding CB.

Yesterday he was superb, not scared of the physicality of Lukaku and leading in the absence of Dias, superb performance and Pep has one hell of a headache in choosing our CB pairing.

You are ascribing here... Ne er said he wasn't a class CB. I just don't rate him as highly as most do. And by that, I mean I rate John and Ruben higher. Some consider Laporte the best CB at the club. I disagree. He is clearly 3rd best in my opinion.

That however doesn't mean he isn't class.

Again, going by performance, that Partnership during that run of wins was better than anything we've seen. It's not an exclamation, it's a fact! The numbers and performance bore that out out. They had a 3 month stretch that was unmatched.

As for Laporte wanting to leave, like anyone else, if a player wants to go, then there is nothing we can do.

Also, relax with the insults. Laporte is good but not as good as Ruben or John. Period!

It's not a fetish. Simply compare numbers. Wins, goals conceded, shots conceded, they were better. The lack of honesty is on your part.

But to each his own.
