I very much doubt you can back your personal impression that Stones is much better than Dias and Laporte at passing the ball with facts and stats. There were stats from last season which showed he isn't better, let alone light years better. No need for wild and stupid exaggerations.
Stats, schmats

Stats, schmats

Personal impressions, schmersonal schmressions.

People thinking they are seeing the truth with their eyes are a bit naive, to put it mildly. All kinds of biases cloud personal impressions and judgments. E.g., Rodri was Plodri just several months ago.

It's a bit of both. In terms of raw pass completion, there really isn't much in it, as you say

I think the difference is that Stones attempts (and usually completes) more incisive passes than Dias. He's more attuned to playing passes between the lines or for players on the half-turn than Dias, which helps us in transition and makes our build-up play more fluid

Laporte is pretty good at this too, and is usually very reliable with longer passes than either Stones or Dias as well

This is when we can see why having four class CBs is so important if you're aiming for the very top. Eric has been excellent lately and last night as well. Some on here don't rate him saying he makes mistakes but show me any defender who doesn't. Like Bernie keeping him last summer was the best signing we could have made. I was really worried he would leave and I wouldn't have blamed him. He was visibly upset when Pep played f* Garcia ahead of him at a stage when Eric needed minutes to get in match shape ahead of the season finale.

Laporte's been our best CB so far. Stones hasn't played much at CB, and Dias hasn't hit the heights from last season. Think Laporte has it in him to contribute a crucial goal at some point this season. Remember, he won us the league cup last season.

Also scored a vital goal against Brighton on the last day of the season.

Yeah I think he gets a lot of unfair grief because people would rather Stones play than him. I understand why they'd prefer Stones but it's meant Laporte's many good showings have gone under the radar.

Let's not forget that before last season many a City fan would have argued that Laporte was the best CB in the league.
