Has Laporte not been playing more this season simply because we've had a right footed left back?

Not that he's not a really talented player or anything but that's the only reason that makes sense (in a Pep sort of way) as to why Stones and Dias hasn't been our mainstay partnership this year.

Not inferior. Just not superior. If he hadn't made a fuss about leaving, there was no reason to bench Stones.

Pep generally keeps you on it you perform. It was why Laporte was stuck on the bench in the first place. Cos the other 2 were performing. At no point did they stop doing that.

It's all speculation. But it looks clear he was unfairly favored at the start of the season.

Stones suffered from injuries in the first months of the campaign and Laporte did well in that period, arguably better than Dias. There was no reason to bench Laporte after Stones got fit. Pep benched Dias vs Chelsea in January and played both Stones and Laporte. Obviously, Laporte is first choice this season. If he loses form, Pep will bench him, the team comes first.

It's weird people could believe that Pep would play an inferior player and harm the team only because said player wanted to leave. Again, Pep isn't that silly.

Also Stones has been better than both Laporte and Dias. So my position was that he should be starting ahead of either one.

Stones had multiple injuries after the Euros until December. That's why he barely played at CB in the first half of the season. Refresh your memories.

You are entitled of your opinion, I'm happy to trust Pep's view over yours.

One of the reasons I don't envy Pep's job is that there are a lot of people who pretend to know better what's good for the team and the club. Pep is not perfect but is miles more intelligent than the average fan.

in your opinion , ball playing its laporte and stone , if we are up against a big fucker then dias and stones, saying stones and dias is the best by a country mile is wrong, maybe a hair's width, imo

I feel comfortable with any pairing out of the three starting. All have positives and negatives but overall we are very lucky to have them all and trying to balance the game time can't be easy.
Stones and Dias would be my personal first choice but can't say I'm too upset when it doesn't happen.

Laporte of 3 seasons ago was a phenomenal defender, not so much since then, he is still a great defender but he has become prone to some horrible individual errors.

For me and yes it is my opinion, though it does seem a few share it on here, Stones and Dias for me, I have also stated the next best pair is Stones and Laporte, I just don't like Dias and Laporte together, they seem more prone to errors together but not so much with Stones next to them.
