No don't get me wrong, the lad needs a chance to prove his worth, all as I was saying was to justify it being a bit of a panic buy that's all, always tough mid season I get it, but for me and no doubt others he's not got me too excited just yet in what we have seen.

But let's be honest, this lad should not really be put into the give him a season category, he was brought in as we were all begging for some cover in midfield, and at 50m should be in the starting 11 every game, and would be if he was upto it, but he isn't, Gundogan and Kovacic getting the nod, so what happens when Rodri is back.............not a fucking lot

Nobody starts every game. Of those six league games you mentioned, he's played as many as every else. He literally started on Saturday, with Kovacic on the bench.

He's a back up DM, who mostly plays CM, so when Rodri comes back he'll be in rotation with whoever is around next year in the midfield slots. Sure, we don't know if he'll be a world beater, but absolutely nothing in his time on the pitch has suggested that Pep isn't keen.

Ok, we will cut to the chase, and nothing to do with not liking him, be honest with me here, are you content in what you have seen for 50m for a player that has come mid season, already fit enough to start, but not getting as much game time as he could?

Rotation, rotation, rotation, you can use that all afternoon, he didn't play v rags (important game) and again on Tuesday (important game) - Gundogan, who also started Saturday has beaten him to a start v Villa, as did Kovacic, not looking for an argument I'm just addressing your counter points.

What we were desperate for was to win some football matches and since January our form has been considerably better. That's down to finally having a number of options to cover positions and not force the senior players to play every few days.

Nico hasn't set the world alight, but he's in the most difficult position of them all and it will take time. What he has done is allowed us to shuffle the pack. This is what Khusanov and Marmoush have also provided. It's what O'Reilly has also provided.

And as a result we've been able to cope with Ake, Stones, Akanji being out. With Haaland getting injured. With De Bruyne, Gundo, Bernardo looking fatigued and way off their previous best.

As a result our energy levels look a lot better, we're winning games and certainly looking a lot tougher to beat.

There's so much more that we need from Nico, but like Rodri it wasn't going to be an instant success.

I just see Pep doing what Pep's done for the last decade, and a new player doing pretty much as well as expected (remember he's playing exclusively as a DM for City, when not far off 90% of his previous games were CM/AM).

If we weren't desperate, I suspect he'd have spent a lot longer on the bench, or playing the easier games, while Pep worked on the systems with him in training.

He’s looking more Javi Garcia and Fernando than Rodri and Fernandinho at the minute but like everyone he’ll get some time and we’ll see if he can become an important player for us.

So far the mobility seems the biggest issue. However, Barry wasn’t the most mobile and was a great player so hopefully he ends more like him than Kalvin Phillips.

So far he’s looked good in some games and a bit tripe in others.

Again exactly the sort of post we all read when "Plodri" was in his first year. "Turns like an oil tanker" is another classic I remember.

Nice to se nothing changes with City fans!

Agree, we've been crying for a proper back up to Rodri for years. Not a replacement, but a back up. I think this lad is the first proper back up weve had and wont be as big a drop off if Rodri rests. He's still getting up to speed and is being used frustratingly sparingly but results have been good lately so its justified.

I think he'll come good and is a good buy.

No, but came mid season, match fit, having played where he came from, so the bedding in part is bullshit.

Hit the ground running like Marmoush has for example
Playing as a 6 for Pep isn’t remotely like playing as a striker like Marmoush is. You only need to see that from the last 9 years of watching us never mind Peps previous teams.

Going around in circles here, I asked you a question 2 hours ago, you've said everything apart from answering it.

We leave it at that

Disappointed not to see him recently. I'd rather give the games to someone with long-term potential like Nico than the old farts who shouldn't even be here next year.
