How brittle are modern day footballers, I saw that the player landed on him but nothing too heavy so thought he'd been taken off as well need him on Tuesday night. Now reported as a doubt.
Fuck me I watched the rugby later and they battered each other but played on till until the end, yes they come in with some meat on the bone but so does the one that lands on them.
In most people's world it's 7 days self-cert, Dr's note, Occ Health, half pay, couple of warnings then a boot out the door all for practically min wage.
Come on Nico lad we need you, give yourself a stretch and get back into them fuckers.

Yeah like these injuries didn't exist 30 years ago. Human body hasn't changed that much. You can pull a hamstring by running in a straight line because that's how human physiology works, it has nothing to do with being a "proper man" or being "tough".

Is this from Any Given Sunday?

Bert Trautmann disagrees.

It's not about modern players being brittle or soft, it's about them being able to perform at the absolute peak of their powers. What good does it do City to chuck Nico out there with hip pain if it's gonna be the marginal difference between Bellingham getting away from him and scoring, and being able to get goal side of Bellingham to stop him?

There's a reason football introduced subs in the first place and it was because players' careers were being ruined by having to play through injuries on shit pitches with brick footballs. Since the 70s we've added subs, improved ground work to make pitches safer and better quality, and we've changed footballs to make them lighter and more aerodynamically suitable to the modern game. All of this has been done to improve the quality of the game, not because players are softer.

Colin Bell retired at 33, Franny Lee was 32, Neil Young was 31. Mike Summerbee was a rare case lasting to 38 but he played his last First Division game at 34. George Best played his last First Division game for United at 28 - that's how old Fernandinho and Yaya Toure were when they signed for us. Could you imagine De Bruyne retiring in the summer just gone? Kyle Walker slowing down three years ago as opposed to this season? Of course not. You say it's because they're soft jessies, I say it's because we've improved sports science immeasurably and can now get players to last a couple of years more.

Rugby players have a lot more recovery time than footballers. They also play shorter games with a lot more stoppages and replacements to cover fatigue and injuries. Depending on your position you are able to play below 100% fitness because you are part of a team that defends as one and attacks as one. There is a little less reliance on one v one performance in contrast to football.

Someone falling on top of you at the wrong angle will give you a dead leg. You can't easily run it off and as football doesn't give you 10 minutes to try to, you come off. I think he will be fine tonight personally, and as long as he doesn't get contact in the same spot should last the duration. But a midfielder not able to run at their full pace or intensity makes quite the impact...as we have seen most of this season.

How dare these elite athletes be concerned about their bodies

I'm always perplexed when people compare the 'manliness' of different sports. The physiology required to excel in different sports is so varied that comparisons are, largely, futile. That is why different sports have entirely different training regimes.

What a bottle job. Bought for this game and cries off with a little kick to the hip. Disagree with me all you's want .
