Wonder if Pep is just trying to save the newcomers from the fall out of a bad season, let his old faves get their last hurrah, then start to roll out a new look team CWC onwards
Pep has had one job since January getting top 5 we’ve kept that in our hands by playing safe and winning 4 drawing 1 of our last 5 to keep it in our hands. He probably thinks the new players and building for next season can wait for the CWC.

“Nick is not a midfielder” will come out probably some time next year, from the way things are going

dont think Pep wanted him. once out of CL early he was happy with using the old guard only. he may can turn into a very limited playing time as a Kalvin Phillips upgrade. but that will be too rotate Rodri only in those games when its not Kovacic or Bernardo used there.

will he start more than 7-8 games in league next season? I wouldnt bet any money on it as long as Rodri is back fully fit.

Whats going on here?
If he wasn't wanted or isn't good enough why did we blow another 50 - 60m on a fucking dud before deadline day?
If its not that why the fuck can't he get a run when we've dads army running around in circles in midfield

Maybe Guardiola just sees in training that he isn’t good enough. Maybe he feels the same way he did with Phillips or Nunez that they’re just not at the level needed. You know what I mean. When Nico played, honestly, he didn’t really stand out. He’s not some Rodri-level player or anything (yet). He did his job sure, but didn’t do anything special. Maybe Pep doesn’t like his attitude either, who knows. We don’t see the training, just what’s out there. So yeah, who knows really.

I do fear for him.

Usually taking time to bed into a Pep side involves actually playing in games - Rodri, Mahrez, Bernardo, Sane all played loads before exploding into form.

Certain other players - Sergio Gomez, Phillips, Nunes (midfield) - obviously weren’t fancied and never got time on the pitch to show it. That’s the bracket Nico G is quickly falling into.

or maybe Guardiola has lost his marbles which is why hes coming up with random fucking teams each week and at the minute hes not the best judge of what is or isn't right for the team.

I don't want Nico to stand out, I want him to slot into midfield and keep the team ticking over.
