14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

Can only imagine you’ll be on the Bettinelli thread at Easter be crying about his lack of minutes.

How come Reis gets a pass?
Reis is a kid who has barely played senior football in Brazil. Nico g came from Portugal and was one of the better players in Portugal.

It’s clear pep sees bim behind Rodri, gundogan, Bernardo and reijnders not to mention kovacic! He will be gone by end of summer imo. Probably on loan initially

Still think pep rates him? I may not be able to read his mind but it’s pretty obvious he isn’t fancied for whatever reason

Let's see what happens. It's premature to jump to conclusions.

Pep didn't start Rodri in a CL final. Some on here thought he didn't rate Rodri. Etc.

Khusanov is a kid too, yet he’s been discarded already.

No one knows what is fully going on. To create a rhetoric suggesting he’s finished at City because he doesn’t start every game is absurd to me, but people will crack on making up reasons why.

He probably bought Pep the wrong shower gel.

Hair remover instead of shampoo I heard :-)

I am worried for him

If he’s good enough he’ll be fine. Came into the team in very low point the new signings may allow him to work his way in.

Gundo over Nico and Akanji over Khusanov is extremely hard to understand why
Akanji is a reliably excellent passer with both feet. When we have an advanced left back it helps with quick possession angles if the LCB passes well with his left foot

Gvardiol is first choice there but Akanji is useful because he has that ability (hence why he played middle of the three CBs in the previous game)

I dunno if I'm overly optimistic, but i don't really see the issue here.

Even if we still have Gundogan and Kovacic for this season, they won't be around for the next one. He'll be learning all the time from Pep and Rodri and will have chances this season to prove himself.

Sometimes patience is required.

It is, but we can’t ignore that he bought Pep the wrong hair conditioner.

Is he though? I see a lot more of that Dias' 'hold on to the ball waiting for something to happen ' in him lately. Just pass it on quickly.

I hppe one of the assistants droll that into them quickly.

You of all people should be the last person talking like this... Considering how much you want to bring new players in :(

As many know i really rate Nico and was made up when we signed him. It`s just a waste to potentially sit around for 12 months if Gundo and Kovacic dont leave this summer playing sporadic cup games and the last 2-3 minutes of games? One of the highest rated young DM in europe and a near 35 year old gets on ahead of him and Reijnders who has a number 8 drops back to play 6?

When was this ? I barely saw him ever using his left foot. Neither is he an excellent passer. Maybe side ways. He has serious problem to pass between the lines. Also there is still Ake and Gvardiol for the LCB position who are also better defensively.
Akanji had the versatility to play across the entire backline but now his last positive aspect is gone. He gets bullied on the regular. His position can be taken by one of Khusanov and Reis. Especially when the club is trying for Livramento again.

He's very comfortable with both feet, much more so than any of our other central defenders except Gvardiol, who is freakishly good with his weaker foot

"Excellent" I can understand being a bit controversial, I should've specified I meant in terms of accuracy, I agree with you about him not being good at passing between the lines. Some of Khusanov's passes the other night were literally yards wide of their intended target. You don't get that with Akanji
