14 | Nico Gonzalez - 2025/26

How exactly would he have been perfect ? he never fucking plays to begin with so how do we know he's perfect for any type of game ?
He breaks up play snd stops counter-attacks better than Gundogan, Reijnders and a half-fit Rodri. I've been impressed whenever I've watched him but Pep obviously isn't a fan. May as well move him on as I just don't see him getting a game.

His city career is done I’m afraid and the other young signings will go the sane way as pep will just pick his old guard yet again and play shit passing football even though it doesn’t work . Not bothered about going out if we learn from it but unless these players are sold it’s gonna be pep that costs us the title not fatigue .

I refuse to believe that there isint a problem here. Is Pep that stubborn that hes still punishing him for having a go back in February?

Pep doesn’t fancy him if a 35 year old Gundo is keeping him out.
Actually, it was Reijnders that kept him out today, then Rodri, then Bernie, as they were the DM rotation in the match.

It doesn’t bode well that Pep isn’t putting him in the rotation, but I think it’s because he’s still trying to catch up to the speed of the game at times. That position is fucking hard, but Rodri and Reijnders just happen to make it look easier, because they’re big, languid guys who slide into positions almost without thinking.

Remains to be seen if he is part of the core 16-17 man first team squad.

He’s never given a chance and when he’s played he’s done a job though .
He hasn’t had many opportunities, granted, but he always strikes me as being unbalanced when he’s receiving the ball and that’s why he’s prone to losing possession.

It seems that Guardiola would rather play 3 or4 different players in that position before Gonzalez.

Well, something is clearly a miss.Wasn’t getting in last season so don’t fancy his chances this year with Rodri back and Bernado playing centrally a lot more often.
He just seems nervous to me, play him along side Rodri for a few games and he would slowly adapt. Not everyone would hit the ground running

Something isn't adding up, it's not like he's consistently put in bad performances for us and Reiijnders doesn't even play that position, he's better further forward.

Guardiola has had 54 games to solve the no-Rodri situation, and he’s tried all manner of permutations, with precious little success. If Gonzalez cannot play that role on his own, then I just don’t see him as good enough to displace any of the more attack-minded midfielders when Rodri does play, and we cannot afford to play someone deeper beside Gonzalez to nurse him through games. Viana needs to make a big decision.
