They were set up very well and clearly had the system drilled. Their press was impressive and light years ahead of ours.

We looked well under-cooked in comparison and short of pre-season preparation.

He is not shite, but he is not Rodri or Fernandinho or Gundogan right now.

Can't dictate and boss the midfield, can't orchestrate how we play.

But considering his age I think that's normal.

What I like is his consistency and work rate. Very disciplined player as well.
Has number of good skills and with experience he will find confidence in himself and desire to express more during the game and that's when he will become what we need.

Right now he reminds me of a new young employee at office, still learning people and environment, needing manager's strict instructions what to do, but after 2-3-4 years that young employee starts to do some things on his own and starts to take initiative.

Until that happens, he will be a useful rotation player.

He definitely isn’t. I don’t think I’ve seen him play badly yet. He’s had a few average performances no doubt about that. But some of the posts on here towards him are unjustified.

Possibly, I didn't watch much of Rodri before we signed him. I like Nico personally, he played further forward for Porto aswell tbf.

I think he has the passing range and the 'bite' to be a good CDM but it takes time and games to learn the subtle art of that position, where to stand during opposition attacks, when to drop deep to collect from the defenders, when to speed up the tempo, when to slow it down. Its not a job anyone can come in and drop 10/10s in straight away.

Completely disagree. He's demonstrated, this season alone, that he's a good ball winner in midfield and our midfield was shite apart from Rodri. Bring him on, win control of the midfield again and actually build attacks.

I think he’s been treated harshly since he’s signed. I thought he had a very good game against Wolves and he didn’t deserve to come off against Spurs last week.
