Another game, another step up. Right now, Nico has to keep his place and keep the rhythm going. Rodri has to be used sparingly so he can act as the understudy to Nico whilst he rebuilds fitness and form. Hopefully we can see them being interchangeable and an option as a duo.

MOTM for me, I pray Rodri gets fit and into some proper form towards the latter stages of the CL, because a midfielder that contains Rodri, Nico and Phil is going to be a problem for a LOT of teams.

Played so well. You can see he's trying to weave his way out of tight presses which led him to be caught out once or twice, but it did help us break forward dangerously. Carry on lad.

Very good defensively but still limited enough on the ball. The 5 min cameo from Rodri was a different level. Will be a great part of the squad though.

I am confused - both of haaland's goals came from excellent line breaking passes from nico?

Can't remember anyone in recent years having the chutzpah to play such a pass as the one that led to the opening goal.

My only concern is when he decides to dribble through three players in the middle of the park.

There's a lot of pressure on him as he's always going to be compared to Rodri, but if he keeps progressing at this rate he'll certainly be a very good foil/replacement for Rodri within the next 12 to 18 months

Yeah I agree. Don't think he'll be permanently in the side, and it depends on tactics, but he'll get loads of games and should do very well.
