15 minute cities

The conspiracy around this bizzare.

Why do the people who believe these things not focus on the actual, genuine efforts to control us by the current government. Restricting the right to protest, restricting the right to strike, replacing the human rights act, removing our freedom of movement around the EU.

These are things that the current Government has actually done or are actively trying to do.

Because it is difficult to grift or be different and edgy by doing that.

Business Rate Retention by the collection authority only came in April 2013. Before then it went to central Gov and was divvied out. Similar with Council Tax, the more you collected the more your Revenue Support Grant was reduced the next year until localisation in 2013.

The Gov has vastly reduced any grants and want LAs to be self sufficient, hence letting them retain a proportion of proportion of business rates.
Yeah, but then they have to level up - Business rates in the City of London is a bit different from in, say, Hartlepool - where all the foodbanks the Tories introduced don't pay rates.

And if the Tories win the next election the food banks of hartlepool will be stocked only with bushmeat.

He's a notorious anti vaxxer so I wouldn't be surprised if he was being serious.
Yes it’s amazing how most of the anti ‘15 min cities’ brigade, are the same RWNJ who were/are antivaxx, trumpians, Putin acolytes, antiNHS, climate change deniers.

The ‘15min cities’ are an excellent idea - localised, easy accessible amenities without the need for car use to do the essentials of shopping and socialising.
But it’s been hijacked by the RWNJ’s to mean ‘you’ll be forced to live in a ghetto, you will be stopped from leaving the area, you won’t be allowed to have a car, the NWO will dictate that they can do what they want with your miserable life, rise up now, because we know the truth… etc etc’

If they could come up with a reasoned factual argument that cast the concept of 15min cities in a negative light, I’d happily engage

and Glastonbury is a town not a city

It's full of oddballs, hands off parents, crazies, drunks, drug addicts, chemtrail obsessives, people who walk around outside without shoes, and boomers that walk around in brightly coloured clothing but are as fiscally conservative as the chairman of the local conservative association.

Ironically Glastonbury is already a place with everything within "15 minutes". Library, doctor's surgery, supermarket, high street etc.
