Sky Sports - Rodri put in a typically methodical performance in possession and was almost perfect with his passing accuracy in the first half but he was also effective in defence, topping the stats for regaining possession.

He’s just got up to speed with the league, it usually takes a season.

Solid again today, won a lot in the middle and his passing was very good.

The only issue he has is his predecessor is the best CDM this league has seen in yonks, no not Kante, the colossal Fernandinho.

Had we not had years of Fern, we’d all be waxing lyrical about Rodri right now.

Fernandinho is a PL great but I think that Rodri may become even better.

Take Ferna's best ever period at the club and compare his stats with Rodri's this season. Where is Ferna supposed to come on top? Winning possesion in midfield and the final 3rd, or being press resistant or the percentage of completed passes or progressive passing? Haven't done it myself but I think Rodri will turn out to be more effective in most categories relevant for a DM.

Think Rodri is underrated by the average fan because he isn't quick and an all action type of player. He has other, less obvios attributes like intelligence, good reading of the game, excellent positioning, etc. Top player.

Thought they slightly dominated the midfield in the first half because we were a bit passive, and Rodri was part of that. We were just slowly passing the ball around, mostly going nowhere with it.

But second half but we completely dominated the midfield, and Rodri was a big part of that. After they scored that penalty, we pinned them back and limited their attacks to the wings and Rodri lead that.

Rodri has earned the right now to not be constantly compared to Fernandinho. Just let the guy play, he’s class. Enjoy him for what he is.

He did very well yesterday especially second half.first half not great although he wasn't alone there. He has the physicality to really dominate the opposition. Let's hope he can do that consistently.

Rodri has been immense. The role change for Gundo, the fullbacks tweak and having a stable pair of cb has enabled him to shine. In particular, Stones coming out of defence with his quality passing has taken the pressure off rodders.
