Why is this man not Captain?

On the title race.......

“No. There’s a long way to go. In the end it’s going to give more spice to the Premier League but it’s only one game [the loss vs United] so we cannot drop. We have experience, we know where we are, we know the team we are…”
Captains should be
Dias
Rodri

End of story

One of the few that seems to care. Gundogan is clearly an expert tactically and a brilliant player, but he's not captain material in my opinion. His comments were passive after the Saints loss. Rodri's show ambition and determination. Dias and Rodri are natural leaders. Stones has also shown leadership with his performances this season. But it's lacking just about everywhere else.

The issue with a lot of our new players is that whilst they have quality, they also need to show the same desire to win that we had in Zinchenko and Gabby. It's there in buckets with Haaland and Alvarez I'm sure. But they have to want it. I'm certain Pep made big changes to help rejuvenate things, knowing three in a row was mentally hard to get up for. Akanji, Phillips, Alvarez, Haaland, Gomez. We need them to want to win the league. Two of that 5 I wouldn't have in a matchday squad based on what I've seen this season. They are supposed to be driving the rest to want to win again.

I said at the time of his appointment,Gundo is an odd choice as Captain.

Lovely likeable and very talented fella, but he doesn't have that killer intensity and drive a proper Skipper needs.

Our two Captains are Dias and Rodri for me.

Did they do the player appointment again? We heard so much about Fernandinho supporting the younger lads, and you know he was a natural leader. He put everything into the game. Football in England remains a game where the fans want to see fight from the players. You see it on this forum, a player can have a cracking game but pussy out of a 50/50 tackle and they'll be slated. Gundogan is never going to go and crunch someone, and bang his chest to the fans. Yes he scored two goals which won us the title, and yes I'm sure he cares as much as Rodri. But Rodri and Dias will launch themselves into the opposition and get the fans pumped. And I think we need to see that, particularly at this moment in time.

Been our best player this season...remember the doubts many had when he first came here about lack of pace etc...proved them wrong...great lad!
