Rodri loves it here, he appreciates city, he's very humble and doesnt seek the limelight, he's an ex atleti player, real Madrid disrespected him massively upon being crowned the best in the world, all their mouth pieces did the same under their instructions, Rodri is not going to forget all that and jump into bed with them at the first sign of interest. They well and truly fucked any chance they may have had of getting him when they threw their toys out of the pram. He'd also bot be appreciated there where it's all about "galactico's" and not to mention they've got 2 of the costliest holding midfielders who are both younger than Rodri already in tchouameni and camavinga. The former has been linked with moves away and Camavinga hasn't nailed down that holding position. They have also lost the experience of Kroos and will eventually lose Modric. Different position but important for setting the pace of the game. Those two you mentioned don't have the positional awareness of Rodri or the same ability to control the tempo. The prospect of playing in his hometown is always going to be attractive.

He came here, won it all and has achieved the highest individual award. It's possible he won't be quite as good a player after the injury and is now entering the later part of his career.
