It's the little things - the fourth goal (Gundo's second) came from a ball from Rodri into Bernie’s feet. It wasn't an obvious pass but it cut out a few of their players.

I'd go as far as saying nobody else from our midfield would've played the ball and instead gone safe with it.

That's what he brings, intelligence with his passing. I love the 10-yard forward passes he does too, not realise just how much of a difference those make until he's come back.

One or the reasons Rodri is underrated in England (which he clearly is) is that the importance of these short passes is a bit foreign to domestic football culture. It took a lot of time of our own fans to see his enormous quality in controlling the game and securing dominance with, on the face of it, trivial passes. Anyone who doesn't rate him as highly as David or Yaya doesn't get it yet.

Agreed. I always go back to the pass Rodri made to Kev away at Newcastle in 23/24 - it's such a simple round-the-corner pass but it cut out 3 players and opened up space for Kev to run at their defence.

He does those types of passes all game.

This os why i hate the narrative that he sucked in his first year. Yes, he wasn't balon dor great yet, but there were games where he did those one touch brainy passes to release a counter attack or to deflate a press that were so impressive back then.
 
Tackles like a 7 year old vs an 11 year old currently. It's going to take time and patience...something that bluemoon is renowned for.
 
One of the most crucial things that makes a team more than its parts is the rhythm. And nobody in this team is better than Rodri at finding the right rhythm.

He's key even when he doesn't have individual brilliant actions.
 
Regardless of sharpness he makes such a difference. He's like the David Silva of 6's. Always makes the right decision.
 
Even half-fit, he's the most important player in the side, there's playing the game and understanding it and he is on another planet in understanding it. Always in the right position.
 
Watching City live you see that every good play goes through Rodri and he's there to stop most threats

Gonna take me a while to get used to him being back. Literally watched the game through my fingers till he got subbed off lol. Just so important to everything we do, the thought of him getting injured again gives me ultimate anxiety I was shitting bricks every time the ball went near him!
 
We hopefully have learned we cannot ride him all season as he will invariably break down- he did, and that he did means he is much more likely to do so again.

Hopefully someone has forwarded the memo to Pep that you actually can make 5 subs these days.
 
Pep suggesting that Rodri has an injury issue. Luckily he’s got a month and a half to iron it out before the start of the season.

Very common issue with ACL injuries.
