16 | Rodri 2025/26

It's going to take time and it's going to need the right balance. Some players come back without a problem, others never fully recover. What concerns me, but I is probably entirely legitimate, is how often he says he's not feeling quite right. A big part of the recovery is trusting your body to have recovered. You'll feel niggles, it's football - you're rarely 100% physically fit. They don't always mean you're about to suffer something major. It's right at the moment to be cautious, but at some point he's going to have to just get back out there and trust that he'll be okay even if he's got a bit of pain elsewhere.

The fact he hasn't signed that contract should re-assure us that he certainly doesn't feel he's finished at the top level - he'd want the protection if he did!

Nico in recent weeks has gone up a level or two though. He has been superb in dictating the game from deep and reading the situation. With Rodri's return we'll have two fantastic options in the middle of the park.

Good news that he can continue to recover:

Rodri has not been called up to the latest spain squad.
