16 | Rodri 2025/26

If he won't sign, why nurse him through another year for him to leave on a free, cash in hopefully we can trade with Barca before the world cup, to stuff it up Madrid, him and Marmoush plus adjustment for one of their top players, Pedri or ....

Rodri probably looking on Bernardo and Stones send off with envy and thinking he wouldn’t mind the same, which he only gets if he stays until next year at least.

If he plans to stay for next season, hopefully he puts it out to the media to quell the rumours.

Given that Rodri won Ballon d'Or and Euro's player of the tournament, I doubt he envies such things. He's literally the most individually decorated City player ever.

Barcelona wouldn't sell Pedri even if we offered them Haaland and Cherki. Not because he's better but because he's one of their talismans.

think he is off on a free next year!

If your Madrid or any other club why buy him now when he could well be at the World Cup till the last game! Maybe January a club would of say 10/20m but I’m saying now he is off the Spain next year..

I think he wants what will be his last big pay day and I imagine he’s asking to become probably our 2nd higher earner, at least 350-400k pw.

Largely though I do think our wage structure is fucked at the moment. If you can take Capology or other sources to have an element of truth to them:

Players on the fringes:

Marmoush - £295kpw
Grealish - £225kpw
Reinjders - £230kpw
Dias - £250kpw

Important starters:

O’Reilly - £30kpw
Doku - £50kpw
Semenyo - £150kpw
Khusanov - £50kpw
Nunes - £130kpw
Rodri - £220kpw

We have room to manoeuvre with Bernardo and Stones leaving behind big wages but this is already prompting new deals for Doku and hopefully Rodri.

Sadly I reckon the rumours of him leaving this summer may hold some weight.

Pep just left and there's only two transfer windows left to get money for him, especially when he doesn't seem hugely committed to staying and clearly let's his team put the feelers and stories out about going to other clubs.

I reckon he's off.

I thought I'd be more bothered but actually with Pep leaving I'm actually quite looking forward to a new era and don't expect Rodri to renew his contract anyway

If he wants to go I’d rather he went for money now than free next season. So for me it’s sign an extension or find a new club. Also our medics will have insight to his injury/recovery so we may be encouraging him to pastures new , who knows.

Offer him a huge contract and if he doesnt sign keep him till his deal runs out and wish him well.

We cant afford to try and replace him this summer given the other gaps we have and the lack of any decent alternatives.

A one legged Rodri still our most important player and id take that for another year over 50m that we would prob waste on a Phillips or reijgnders anyway. League is there for the taken next season for us

The club have never been arsed about wringing fees for players when they still have value to us so not sure why we change now.

All of our legends have left for nothing when we could have got some sort of a fee.

Agree with this but if Mourinho wants him as his first signing and Rodri asks to go we will sell otherwise the club be happy to have him another year even if he won’t sign a new contract

My fear is RM just sit and wait to see if Rodders 1. Recovers fully 2. Returns to form 3. Doesn’t have a recurrence 4. Doesn’t become injury prone. If all OK then they get him for free next year. Sad but I think for a decent fee we let him go.
