David Silva was holding him back, because Pep wanted to play both and always played David higher.
With a Rodri, Gundogan, and Bernardo you can ask any of them to play more defensive and you give Kevin that final third freedom he desires.
Muller was so good in that shadow striker role. I think he scored the most goals under Pep than any other manager.Pep came up with that 433 with two "free eights" just to accomodate the two of them in 2016, he played 4231 a lot at Bayern and that seems to be where we are heading.
