Regardless of how bad he is playing, I will never take him off when we need a goal.

Can we not just sub him at times and play Bernardo in that position?

Today was the worse KDB showing I can recall. He's been off it for quite a while but then pulls some magic out of the hat. Today was what he was like when Mourinho got rid. I swear he had his boots on the wrong feet.

Pretty sure that Kev himself will be pissed off with his performance today.

He had time off a few weeks ago for personal reasons, Pep the other day mentioned about players and managing them when the have personal problems, maybe that’s what’s up with him!

He's one of those players that despite having a mare (and he did today), is more than capable of a flash of genius at any one time, so can understand him lasting today as long as he did
Yaya, David Silva, Aguero - all of our KEY players have struggled after they came close to that 32-33 age - so Kev can't be an exclusion..
Especially midfield area, cause that's where player needs his physicality and energy to cope with the demands..
Pep rarely uses him as a midfielder anyway, it's like 4-4-2 and he has a role of second striker or classic Number 10 and he does the job, if we judge by assists and goals, but you can still smell and see that something has changed, something is different..
It's not like Yaya or David Silva situation, when it was obvious for everyone and Pep benched them right away, but it's not our old KDB for sure..
When you have 10 energetic players who run a lot, you have opportunity to use someone like Kev. For example last season was an ideal balance.. We had Jesus as a False9, Rodri-Bernie duo in midfield, Mahrez / Grealish / Foden / Jesus as a wingers, so we were able to use Kev and his best traits - his offensive skills.
This season we don't have False9, so someone has to balance the midfield. At first someone has to replace Jesus and cover that False9 area, so that we had 3+1 players in mdifield.
If Zinchie had stayed maybe, but Cancelo was more of a Winger than a midfielder, that's why at first he introduced Rico. But Rico is young, not that stable and Pep switched to Bernardo - who is the most versatile player I have ever seen :D
But problem is that last season it was Rodri-KDB-Bernie-Jesus.. 3 energetic players + KBD
Now it's Rodri-Bernie-Gundo-KDB.. 2 energetic players + KDB and Gundo. Plus, someone has to cover that LB area, cause whenever you strengthen midfield, other zone struggles. It was Classic N9 position which struggled last season and it's classic LB position which struggles this year. But on the other hand Haaland scores a lot and we don't have problem with the ball possession.
So obviously problem is Gundo here.. We need more young player on that position. This season I would use Foden or Phillips there and for the next season club definitely has plans for Bellingham or Maddison.
I'm sure if Pep could return in August 2022, he wouldn't have sold Zinchie to Arsenal and sold Cancelo instead. If we had player like Zinchie right now, all our problems would be solved..
Zinchie + Rodri + KDB + Bernardo in midfield, Haaland and the team would be flying...
