Surprised he played the full game and he does get himself in some tangles at times. You see him going for 45/55 challenges that are not in his favour and you just close your eyes and hope for the best.
I reckon that is down to him feeling like his time at the top, top level is coming to a close soon (not for a few years, though, hopefully) and he wants to leave everything on the pitch to maximise his chances of winning the most he can before the drop off. We’ve seen that with other top players coming up on the end (Zab, Vinny, Vieira, Ballack, Alonso, Pirlo, etc.). They were willing to go in for those 45/55 challenges because they were desperate for more glory before the faucet is shut off.

It's down to him needing rhythm to keep his sharpness.

He probably looks at it as 55/45 in his favour.

Or perhaps he's desperate to "prove" himself to people that wished other players play instead of him. There's a few of those on this board.
