17 | Kevin De Bruyne - 2024/25

He is finished, gutted to say it, but he is done

Of course he is.

He'll have moments of quality now and again because he is who he is, but so many people on here bit my head off last season when I said KDB is in a pretty quick decline.

You simply can't come back to the same level at his age with those injuries he's had, leaving him out half a year

It is what it is. Age or injuries get them all in the end, even the greats and there's nothing that can stop it.

His days as a top class player are gone, he’ll still have moments but that’s it. No longer up to the rigours of PL football and probably should have gone to Saudi in the summer.

It hurts so much to see him being helpless when he gets the ball at the right side line and - being pressed instantly - can only find the ball back to Walker.

In his golden era he had the power to immediately rush past the opponent and had miles of open space before him to go for himself or find the perfect pass to the forward.

Kev now doesn't have that pace nor power to go by and - never been accurate in small pockets under pressure - has to pass back to defence, without any outcome.

Same with Gundo. All opponents are aware about that and press us with easy success.

If Kev and Gundo still play we need more movement of players who make themselves available or we will be under pressure permanently.

The big topic is the timing of overhaul after incredibly successful years, it's a natural problem.
Injuries of Rodri and all defenders have drastically accelerated that process.

We have some tough decisions to be made, without being too sentimental. Interesting times.

He is coming back from big injuries , he can still have magic moments , shame on some of you ,he is a hero that needs managing better. To ok him off and we folded
Didn't look very happy himself at coming off either, so clearly thought he had more in the tank.

I don't know, personally, I've whined about this for years. Even at our peak, we always held on a year or 2 too long on aging stars.

Sadly, the only 3 we were perfect on were Gundo and Mahrez. They left on time. Even though so many moaned last season about them being gone, I was happy. But then we fucker up the Gundo exit.

Yaya 2 years past it. David 1 year past it. Fernandihno and Kompany a year past their prime. Frankly, Sterling wanting to leave saved us on that front. We just can't help ourselves. We hold on too long.

It's now clear, Gundo is 2 years past his prime, so is Kyle ( who should have been allowed to leave for Bayern in the Gundo/Mahrez exit)..

Bernardo and Kevin are a year past their prime.

People complain about recruiting, but even when we don't get the right player or the best fit ( i.e. Nunes9 it is still far better to have that youthful energy over a slowing aging great.

Most of Liverpool's pickups are not great either. But they are young!!! Get good typing players. Some will for and others won't as well. But being young is an elixir in of itself.

Past his prime? That slide against Salah, the goal winner against Leicester? Vinny was in top shape, he was never a liability
