Raising his wages might solve the problem. With his better contract secured and his young family settled, he wouldn't go anywhere else either.

Wages are definitely not the issue. He has been put on the biggest possible pedastal since joining City and now he can go to any other club and be number one. We would have to promise him the number one shirt or he will be leaving.

How do you know that's not the issue? Are you his agent?

Yes I am.

I am also living in the real world and have been watching how City have done business for the past decade. We have zero reason to short change any player, why would Ortega be any different. However, it doesn't make any sense to have Ederson on 100k+ a week and Ortega on 100k+ a week so something will have to give.

A fantastic acquisition. We can argue strengths and weaknesses between him and Eddy but I think the differences are very small and there's no greater compliment than that an injury to Ederson makes us worried about Ederson, but not worried about upcoming matches from a goalkeeper point of view, because we have Stefan.

Really hope the club can find a way to keep him after this season - it's incredible to have two excellent keepers that both facilitate the same style of play - but I do understand if he wants to go and be the top dog somewhere.

I'd have no worries about Ortega being in goal. His distribution may not be as good as Ederson's (what goalkeeper's is?), but he's an excellent shot stopper. And we'll adapt our tactics to take into account Eddie's absence.

Meanwhile I prefer him to Eddie for his goalkeeping, his smart and cool-headed game which isn't outweighed by Eddie's just superior passing.

But I can't see Eddie staying as #2. Tricky one.

Wish both stayed with a better mix of game time.

According to Sportrac atm Ederson is on £100k/wk, Ortega £55k/wk and Carson £30k/wk.

Personally I would try and persuade Ortega to stay at the club this summer and offer him a rise to Ederson's salary level. There's very little between the keepers. IMO he's a better all round keeper. Ederson has marginally better distribution, but I think Ortega is better at shot stopping and has better positional awareness, IMO he has less chance of giving away penalties or red cards. He is probably less injury prone.

I suspect if Pep does leave next summer his replacement would likely prefer Ortega as first choice. I think it would be a big mistake to let such a top quality keeper leave the club.

Ederson won’t be No 2 though, if either leave it will be Ortega. I hope he stays but I’m expecting him to go in the summer, in fact think he’s more likely to leave than Bernardo, but hope both stay.
