I've always said that in my view he's a better shot-stopper than Ed (although on distribution alone Ed is very clearly number one), but by God, that second goal! Was he slow onto that or what? I know it was right in the corner, but he seemed to be moving in slow motion on that one.

Could possibly have done better with their first goal. It was an obvious play across the face of goal and maybe he could have anticipated and come to claim it, but that's quite harsh. Second goal kept low so would have been incredible for him to get there. Pulled off a lot of great saves to keep us in the game though, which is what he can do. But the composure on the ball isn't there the way it is with Ederson. He was solid, but there were a few times he put it out of play or didn't find the right pass. Excellent number 2 still.

I could actually understand if Ederson might have been pissed off with the reaction of some fans after Ortega's performance against Spurs last season. Ederson deserves way more respect for his overall keeping skills as well as his kicking. He was MOTM in the CL final. He's our most successful keeper ever by a long way.

Reportedly in line for his first Germany call up. Great news for him, probably bad news for us. If he gets genuine and realistic international aspirations he'll probably want to go be number 1 somewhere to enhance them.

Seems he got his first Germany call up. Great news and made up for him.
Good luck to him but almost certain to leave now unless Ederson ( I hope the club give him the extension he deserves) leaves next summer.

If he is to become a German regular he will have to be playing in a majority of games.

Delighted for his chance. With Neuer's retirement, the goalkeeper spot is there for the taking.

Ter-Stegen's not exactly the most consistent, and doesn't seem to be the nailed-on successor. I think Ortega has a good shot.

Give him a run of games
Based on this game ? I don't think so because he was nothing special, the saves he made were all routine and mostly bad Liverpool finishing, and he conceded a pen by doing exactly what Ederson does sometimes which is being rash though it was mostly not his fault, he was no different to Ederson minus the lack of ball playing skills.

I agree give him a run of games.

Better than Ederson on current form. Takes an age to get rid of the ball which will become infuriating very soon.
