I was in two minds about travelling to this one having gone to the dismal League Cup defeat at WHL earlier that season. Thankfully habit beat common sense and it remains one of my favourite matches. Shit atmosphere in the seats at HT, with some heated arguing between Blues that almost ended in a punch-up.

10 hours later, Scouse git gets sent off, and a rag mate (RIP, Paul is giving me grief via text)...... an hour later, he wasn't.

Watching in a pub in the Midlands as the only blue in the gaff and where the landlord was a Spurs fan was quite the rollercoaster of a night.
Even the obligatory gaggle of resident plastic united fans, who were all laughing at half time and asking why I hadn’t fucked off home already, couldn’t believe it at the end.
Tbh I did half think that we could be heading for an all time record defeat, so there was an element of morbid curiosity as well as the natural defiance that was our default stance back then.
The landlord saw his arse at 3-3 and fucked off upstairs…

That next round was one of my worst days watching us. I was so annoyed at the team that day against 10 men! The spurs game was unbelievable. I watched it at home and was jumping around like a mad man in the front room! 18 years….wowGreatest FA Cup comeback ever.

Left my dad’s at half time pissed off. Later turned on the radio at home and 3-3!! Couldn’t believe it! Went ape at 4-3!!!
