Not sure about 117 though, an area of the ground where the atmosphere is already good and you can be drowned out by away fans. North East or North west corner would be good to try and get an atmosphere all round the ground? (The south end doesn't need much encouragement).
Keep up the good work.
I think the South Stand is also a waste of time because as soon as we ever get any of the bigger clubs in the cup they have to be moved somewhere else.Didsbury Dave said:It was noticeable from the top tier that you lot in the south stand were starting a lot more songs than usual. I assumed it was this idea in action.
But you have to realise that singing in the south stand is effectively a waste of time because the songs won't spread right because of the away fans or left because it's the old mans stand. So good effort to you all, but the overall atmosphere will only ever improve if all the singers are in the same area, or very close. As it stands you have a big group of potential noisy fans just doing their own thing in that area of the ground.

I've said the South Stand is the wrong place for the vocal area since Portsmouth came in 2003 and it's never changed. It's like an away section of home fans with, as you say, away fans on one side and the old men on the other. It's the worst place on L1 there could be to try and be the voice for the stadium.

Yep. And when you have tiers the sound doesn't travel to the tier above. So you can hear the south stand singing clearly from the north stand end of the ground, but hardly at all from directly above it. And not at all from the other side of the away fans, unless they are deathly quiet. And having a high number of vocal fans in that area of the ground halves the potential decibel level from the other singing area, meaning less of their songs 'catch on'. Around the rest of the stadium are thousands of occasional singers who will join in if those around them do.
It's almost a perfect storm for killing the atmosphere, unless it's an occasion where everyone is really up for it and the sound collects in the middle of the bowl.

In 117 you couldn't hear the west ham fans at all or the kippax side of the ground at all. Just the way it is at our place

Hopefully we can do the same for blackburn? Maybe get a few more aswell
