I actually think Gundo is top of the list as right player to keep out of Kev, Kova and Bernie. Still think he has enough to offer on and off the pitch to work keeping around for another year. We just can't be playing him as a sole defensive mid or a double pivot with another unc.
Yeah, people who thought we’d replace De Bruyne, Gundogan, Kovacic and Bernardo in a single window were never being realistic. Realistically, only 2 will probably leave at most.

Many, many, many players have been forced out with 1 year left on deals, Barca did it to Gundo just last year, I feel like we should still get rid personally, but if he stays then bernardo or kova should definitely go.

If they all stay it will ruin another season, straight up. Pep will play them over new signings and we'll come 4th

two years ago, the club refused to give him 2 or 3 years extension, they offered him I think just 1 year because of his age.

Not sure if the club is doing the same mistake again with Kevin.
I think the difference is salary. When you are kicked out by other clubs you appreciate the original offer better.

Agree. Over the full season, I think he’s been comfortably better than the others. He’s looked exposed at times, but that’s been largely due to issues with the setup. I haven’t seen anything to think that he’s physically done - still moves pretty well.

What? Barca forced Gündogan out? A team of the season player, one of the best midfield performances in La Liga last year? Give me a break..

I think he’s mint. Pep has figured his position out in recent weeks and isn’t being asked to get up and down all game anymore. I noticed on Saturday he lingered on the halfway line a fair bit when Palace attacked us.

He was then used to man mark a specific player on the press and I think that’s where he’s good because of how well he reads the game.

On the ball he’s class. Always will be. If he can preserve energy (shouldn’t play as much next season, I doubt the plan was to play so much this season!) then he’s a massive help going forward because of his off-ball intelligence.

He had a 1 year extension based on appearances which is something we probably leaned towards putting in the 2 year deal.

Has he played more because of injuries? Probably but not much more.

Had he been good this year?
Well without Rodri we’ve had to use Gundo or Kov at the 6 and the movement just isn’t great. Since Jan with Nico behind him he’s looked so much better. Remember Gundo was Barca’s best player last year and his expectations there showed how mentally strong he is. He was calling Barca and the players out for poor performances and mentality.

Is it worth having him stay another year?
I would. He can take less minutes and be there to cover. I’d still be comfortable with him playing with the right players around him. His leadership is also invaluable. And like others had said he’ll move into coaching.
