I hope we win both, that pretty much we become an undisputed champion this season.

I get that some games call for different personnel or a slightly different approach but we need to find a way of getting him in the starting eleven as much as possible. His relentless pressing sets the tone for everyone else to follow and if you're a teammate watching him work that hard it must be infectious.

I reckon it’s an awareness that Pep will see his effort as the standard and anyone not matching it will be considered performing poorly (and may play less as a result).

But him pressing so well, and causing havoc within the opposition, also give others the courage to do the same during the match, so I suppose “infectious” is a part of it, to be sure.

Something about Argentinian players , the hunger and 100% commitment they show , you cannot train or teach that , he never gave Chelsea's defence a minute of peace , superb at holding the ball up and chases lost causes.
Reminds me of Tevez , and with more experience i dont see why he cannot reach that level.

There are argentinian players without hungry who just lose time and his career, like players around the world.

I guess Alvarez being from Argentina has avoided to jump from Argentina to "Villarreal", "Genoa" or "Nantes" or whatever like that, and after then to a big club, because this is the typical way, and it is very good for him going very young so directly to City from River.

Your club was very brave taking this decisión and Pep knows how to motivate this kind of guys.
A few days before World Cup Pep said in spanish mass media "I have given Álvarez a lot less than he deserves".

The guy, Pep, can he can convey a lot to you with 4 words.

Spot on, jesus did it for us in previous seasons too, he always set the tone of the game from the front and it always had a big impact on our game but a large chunk of our fans never appreciated it even 4 years in.

Alvarez does the exact same thing. Bernardo, alvarez and foden are our 3 key presses who set the tone now, you need as many as possible in the side, especially against the top sides if you want to see our full intense pressing game in action. when alvarez presses, foden goes too, then that forces mahrez to match them, then Bernardo behind him goes off their trigger and whoever's with him gets dragged with him too, then Rodri goes and then fullbacks and before you know it the entire side is pressing, or more likely, we've already won the ball back.

You need at least 2 of them on the pitch if you want to press high otherwise one starts and gets completely bypassed as nobody joins.

There's no reason he can't play LW in games like today where the LB is overlapping and holding the width.

LW - Grealish, Foden, Alvarez

ST - Haaland, Alvarez

RW - Mahrez, Palmer

CAM - KdB, Foden, Alvarez

That's kind of where I think the attacking depth lies. Alvarez can easily play 3 out of 4 spots with wide fullbacks, and RW we just have 2 others who can really only play there anyways, so not needed.
