Can understand him not starting every week but not how little time he gets.

Reminds me of early years Foden treatment. Some said that was the making of Foden. Some disagreed. But Alvarez isn‘t a born Blue with stars in his eyes. He won‘t necessarily stick around for ever or whatever.

I hope to fuck he’s not impatient because he could easily ask for a move in the Summer and be granted one because of our ‘happy faces’ policy.

There’d be plenty of takers and it’d be a stupid move to see him go. Even if there would be a (guaranteed) massive profit.

Hasn't had a chance to make himself indispensable yet unfortunately, so any worry I have about him leaving is about lost potential and our shrinking squad more than about the specifics of things he's done.

Clearly a very good player with a bright future, but we're just not using him.

If he's Haaland's understudy, give him starts in busy weeks so we can keep Haaland fresh for the bigger game/s that week. If Alvarez isn't delivering then we can always give Haaland half an hour or so to make the difference. We'd soon find out Alvarez's level if he was getting those opportunities.

If we think he can play the Kev role too, as we've brought him on for Kev a few times recently, the same applies - give him actual significant minutes in that position and let's see what he can do. Kev clearly needs more rest than he used to so there should be plenty of chances to do that.

Giving him 5 minutes here and there is no way to develop or assess him, let alone convince him to stay. I hope Pep has a clear plan for him and is communicating that.

I honestly can't see him staying while Haaland is around. He's not going to get a game while Pep is effectively forced to try to accommodate Haaland tactically.

There was nothing wrong with the false 9 system at City, and Alvarez would probably have slotted into it quite nicely. As much as fans won't want to admit it, we really didn't need to sign Haaland. As impressive as he's been over the season, all that has really achieved is unsettling the flow of our game.

Alvarez won't improve as long as he's not playing regularly, and 10/25 minute cameos are no good for him.

I would be disappointed, but not at all surprised to see him sold at a huge profit in the summer.

Spot on. As you say, it is more about his potential than what he’s already done for us but it would be a shame never to find out.

One thing he does clearly give is energy. Yet we sometimes prefer to leave plodders and gaspers to struggle on rather than use this lad.

Maybe he’ll get a start against Leipzig. Maybe not.
