I think it’s pretty clear he needs to see game time to trust his career path here. It’s easy to tell him to be patient but as long as Haaland is here, he needs to see that he will get the minutes he needs. Whether that’s rotation or playing alongside him (I’d hope the latter personally).

Also I wouldn’t underestimate the fact he’s said Messi is his idol and emulating him at Barcelona is will be very, very enticing to a young Argentinian footballer. I just hope we can tie him down.

He spent time at Real Madrid I see them as the more likely destination than the chancers at Barcelona. As for more game time, he was a better when he was brought on vs Spurs at home but the Southampton performance wasn't great (although the whole team was wank that night)

It will be interesting to see if Pep uses Alvarez with Haaland together more. I think against sides that sit deeper we probably will with Rico inverting and having wingers like Jack and Phil/Mahrez who can drop deeper when playing out from the back to give more control. The CB's seeemed to be breaking the lines down the middle more with Gundo and Alvarez in the attacking 8 roles in the midfield box formation. Then Alvarez attacking as a 2nd striker in the box in the final 3rd. It does come with an expense as someone like KDB who would have to sit out though. Against better sides Pep will probably play another midfielder instead.
