It’s definitely going to be hard to keep him, despite his new deal. I don’t really see the new deal as him committing to us no matter what, I just see it as City conceding that following his World Cup, we were simply not paying him well enough. Haaland will never not be our first choice whilst he’s here, so we have to find more ways to get Alvarez on the pitch. I don’t know if he can play a slight variation on KDB’s role, in the top right of the box midfield? Could allow us to rest Kev more next season. He’s a bit too good to be honest.
Jonathan Wilson said today he’s the 3rd best striker in the league…which is probably right.
I know he just signed a contract last week, which is a good sign he’s not worried about game time but we might have to play a lot more 442 in the future.
Fantastic again. Involved heavily in the build up and clinical when he sees goal. Hes giving pep another puzzle to solve, how do we fit him and haaland?
exactly it was pretty clear already that he plays like a pep player at river plate. so it was a seamless transition for him. also said he will play well as a second striker that also proved to be true with how he complements Haaland. only regret for me is that we missed out on Enzo from river plate he already had the look of a generational midfielder but now he has made the wrong move for his career and waste his talents at chelsea.Kudos to Agueroooo9320 and a few of the other early posters in this thread who could see how well he was going to fit. I was pretty optimistic myself, but he's been even better than expected.
Seen reports calling him the "world's best second-choice striker" and it's hard to argue with that. Usually, when you've got a player like Erling, you can't necessarily hope to have an incredible back-up. They tend to be either journeymen or young kids still learning the game, or someone just a bit average that you can't necessarily rely on, like a Choupo-Moting type.
Instead, we've got an absolute world-class World Cup winning dynamo to come in whenever the big Viking is out, and we can feel 100% confident whenever his name's on the team sheet that he'll make things happen. They also play SO well together, so I really hope we can continue seeing even more of Julian in the first 11 even when Erl is back.
well we already has see that happen when he plays with Haaland in place of KDB.Fantastic again. Involved heavily in the build up and clinical when he sees goal. Hes giving pep another puzzle to solve, how do we fit him and haaland?
yes but thats only when Kev is rotated. What about the rest of the time? He's too good to be a bit partwell we already has see that happen when he plays with Haaland in place of KDB.
Haaland will never play every game. Built the way he is he will miss games through injury or rest.yes but thats only when Kev is rotated. What about the rest of the time? He's too good to be a bit part

Maybe pal, but combined with his rotation with others in the front five it very well might be.He's played 93% of possible league games so far, that's as close to playing every game as it gets in the modern game.
I think we have 17 matches left max, and he'll likely play in 15 or 16 of them if he's fit, so Pep's going to have to find a way to play Alvarez and Haaland together, the games Erling is out injured or rested aren't enough.
