That was on his own teammate in training.

Does this explain why we have so many injuries? They've all met Nigel at Carrington...

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

Sky were disgraceful this morning. We all know about Sky but today was stepping over the mark as far as im concerned.

"Man city beat newcastle 2-1 and Ben Arfa broke his leg in a challenge that went unpunished".

That was probably the 1 comment more than any before that got me angry. It went unpunished as he got the ball, it was no foul and ex pro's watching said it was just an unfortunate accident. To say it went unpunished is implying it was late, reckless and deliberate. Hope City sue thier arses off.

Fucked off with all this now, the newcastle player Diati or something, he went in badly once or twice- no comment. Why is everything we do built up by Sky into a witch hunt

It was an ugly tackle. Legal, but ugly.

Legal? Really? I keep hearing this about dangerous play and red cards. That play from De Jong looked dangerous when i saw the game, it didn't look less dangerous on the replay....

Your way out Egyptian. I read your comment last night but waited until I saw MOTD before commenting as it could be argued my view at the match was not the best.
The Referee did not blow for a foul, he did not indicate a foul had been committed but play advantage, NO player felt a foul had been committed at the time, NDJ was not even spoken to never mind booked and having seen it again on TV I do not know where your comments have come from. It is a physical game and injuries do occur but there was nothing wrong with NDJ's challenge.
We have enough critics without our own starting something that isn't warranted.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

It's easy to feel that way, but sometimes it's not the case. The way they report they are always trying to create controversy, and they do it with most teams

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

As i stated earlier and someone else just said tiote went in with 2 legbreakers today one on milner and a deliberate attempt at a stamp on de jong fortunately he is so slow he missed them both.

Like i said difference is dejong went for and got the ball tiote went for the man and missed twice but nothing has been made of that

Spot on mate - After hearing Stan Collybollocks ranting after the match I thought I'd wait to see MOTD's highlights to see if i'd missed something - there was fuck all wrong with the tackle. The Ref saw nothing wrong, Houghton saw nothing wrong - all he said was that he didn't think the tackle needed to be made... really Chris, should NDJ have just let run away with the ball then?
Watch the tackle again - and watch Nige's face, he watches the ball the whole time, and there's no trace of malice or intent... I can't even see how the tackle caused such damage... I wish the lad well, but Ben Arfa's legs must be made of glass!
Watch repeats of the Newcastle v Wolves match to see tackles flying in with intent - Barton was (ironically) the victim of GBH in that game.
End of the day, a good, hard tackle from Nige - that won the ball - and an unfortunate accident.
I wish Arfa a speedy and full recovery.

I stopped reading after one of the most exciting prospects in british football. He has had 2 and a bit games and scored one admittedly great goal how that makes him one of the most exciting prospects in british football i am yet to grasp

The press are on constant alert for the 'NextOne'. A pass, a goal, a dribble, a tackle and the GreatOverHypedSpinMachine grinds into gear!

I was taken with the paragraph alluding to the water(?) on the pitch.

The City of Manchester Stadium’s pitch yesterday was as wet as a Welsh golf course. Rain poisons golf tournaments but empowers football matches, adding a febrile intensity, a gladiatorial attrition.

I do not recall a single pass or move that was adversely affected by the water on the pitch. From what I saw there wasn't any water on the pitch. It appears it had all sunk down below and into the drains!

If people want to see something in a situation that isn't there, they will do!

It might just be me, but do you think they're trying to influence the FA into looking at the incident. Strangely enough, most pro's are saying it was unfortunate and that the tackle was not over the top. Maybe Sky want De Jong banned so the Rags take over their 2nd spot again.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

I've sat back and watched this this thread and wanted to refrain but decided that I want to throw my thoughts in,

Of all the negative comments on here, which is fair enough as everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and with all the 'moral outrage' being exhibited by some 'has been or never where' pundits how many of these actually know Nigel De Jong as a person not just a professional footballer? How many on here, and in the media have actually met or spoken to the man? Well I'm fortunate enough to have met NDJ, and spent a couple of hours in his home chatting football to the man shortly after the Derby at Eastlands last year. Without doubt Nigel De Jong is a professioanl, intelligent, polite and articulated guy. He is dedicated to the club and to his football. The challenge yesterday was not a Roy Keane whereby that twunt intentionally set out to injure a fellow professional, even writing words to that effect in his own book. The referee and the linesman where both quite well placed and neither signalled a foul.

On the way home from the match Collymore, yes Collymore the holier than thou, never committed a sin in his unblemished woman beating, dogging existance claimed 3 footballers were "nicking" a living, and that 1 of those was our own NDJ. That, in my own opinion ought to be taken further by the club or the player himself as this would appear to be slander in my eyes. A blue called in to ask Collymore how many World Cup Finals he had played in to the reply that NDJ didn't in fact 'play' in the final but merely prowled around looking to kick the daylights out of the Spanish. Typical, ill informed biased bollocks that we the supporters have questioned why the club do not take a more pro-active stance against this bias. This is again turning into a witch hunt, not just against our own player, but indirectly with the club. This is not to say that some actions or individuals can be defended blindly, Ben Thatcher was correctly punished by the FA and the club for an outrageous challenge but this is not the same at all. Admittedly the consequence of NDJs chanllenge has had a more far reaching and devasting impact on the other player but I do not or will not ever be convinced that the challenge was precipitated with malice.

NDJ may be committed, he may walk where angels fear to tread but having met the man, he is without doubt an honest professional.

Re: De Jong injury to Ben Arfa

Talkshite are now questioning the pitch. Irani just said 'Sir Alex has said that he would not have a part artificial playing surface at Old Trafford'. Nob head.

They're doing the next hour phone in on how to get 'horror tackles' out of the game.
