He has errors, but the pace is so vital. The aubameyang in behind was not one today once coz of walker pacing him each time they tried it. Not A Flawless player and hell cost us a goal now and then but such a crucial player for high up defending also.

He's honestly been one of our best signings of the Pep era.
Agreed. He's vital to so much of what we do. It still blows my mind a bit when he gets a load of grief from City fans.

His pace, height and strength, on top of being solid in possession is so important to us. Neville said it today that he can't think of another player who breaks up as many counter attacks from corners as Walker, and I agree. He just straight up nullifys the ball in behind him with his pace, and that's where we are usually most vulnerable.

He's been key for us for a while and is an underrated part of our defence. In fact, you could argue the most consistent defender in the past few seasons and also in part due to rarely being injured.

I don't think any other defender has played anywhere near as many games as he has for us since he joined.

Works hard, and pace has been immense, whilst underrated in the tackle in key situations and enjoys going forward. He can create some chances even if he's not brilliant there he isn't an oaf either.

Not sure where we'd be without him when you really think about it.

By far our most consistent defender. I would argue he’s one the most underrated players in the league.

Interesting that Football365 picked Walker in their "Winners" section for this weeks matches.
They make a good point about him being deployed in the centre and thereby putting him in the ideal position to use his pace to snuff out any danger anywhere across the line. It also allows Cancelo to be played in his natural position. I wonder if after Saturday's clean sheet, Pep will use this set-up more often?

Maybe but I think this setup was pretty specifically designed for this game and a direct response to Arteta congesting the centre of the pitch in the FA Cup semifinal.

Watching him, you’d say he’s got years left yet in this team, despite his age!!
He's only 30,got at least 2 or 3 before his athleticism begins to wane, and even then he'll still be faster than most for a couple more.Only injury could prevent that scenario, imo.

Seems a natural athlete so I'd be hoping for another 3 years out of him. Make no mistake about it though as soon as he loses half a yard he's as good as gone
