Completely shut down that side, can only remember Antonio winning one corner all game.

We know he is limited on the ball but he is excellent defensively.

Made some vital interceptions and kept West Ham at bay on our right hand side , there isnt a better defensive right back in the country , as others have stated he has his limitations going forward but an essential part of our current winning run.

What did he do poorly today to say he didn't defend well? He covered the counter very well numerous times and wasn't beaten on his side, their threat was down the opposite side. The chance at the end was an overload, all the defenders were in position and had a man each I wouldn't blame anybody for it, they threw everyone forward for the last minute and that's what happens sometimes. If anybody, you can say a Rodri or fernandinho should have dropped in as an extra man.
He’s very rarely beaten down his side 1v1, that isn’t in dispute.

In an overload situation, you mark the danger. What’s the point of taking the guy out wide, when there’s a guy right in front of you unmarked, and he is the danger? He has to run with Diop. If the ball goes over their heads to the other guy, it’s tough shit and we have to take it on the chin. It’s basic defending because he is the guy who can see the whole picture.

I thought he was very good tonight. Got involved in attacks and solid defensively. You wouldn’t really ask for more from a traditional full back.

I think he’s excellent. The amount of games where our opponents attack and it’s Walker makes the last ditch interception.

Stepped it up today did our Kyle. Contributed all over the park.

Competition is keeping him on his toes and Pep is handling the squad rotation perfectly.

Best he has played in ages. He still is our worst player on the ball but his speed was useful last night.

So many of us saw the problems the side would face without him in the team against this lot. Pep knows this but still made that call, I will never know why.

there's certain games he has to play and if you've not got Bernardo or fernandinho in the middle either against pace then it's an absolute no brainer he starts. They immediately stopped attacking down our right the second he came on. I bet the bus driver is still rubbing his eyes in disbelief to seeing Walker on the bench.

Can we now just accept that every now and again Cancelo will make mistakes that cost us, but no more so than Walker? That tonight, was one of the worst full back performances I have seen in years.

Southampton identified him as the weakest link when we were passing out and targeted him accordingly. The more technically gifted players we field, the more those whose first touch isn’t quite as good stand out.

I agree with what you're saying, but it wasn't a technical deficiency that made him backheel the ball blind to the opposition, that was just a really poor decision from one of our most experienced players. That's what disappointed me

Often think he tries the more adventurous to compensate for his inability to keep the ball close to him in tight situations.

Some brain fart decisions but the entire back 4 were just as guilty of that today. His pace was a valuable asset tonight it just often goes under appreciated at times because he negates the threat before its even become a threat so it doesn't stick in the mind. Despite him not playing very well I still think it was the right call to have him in there today over cancelo.
