I think losing Gundogan when the club had probably convinced themselves he was going to stay may have played a big part in us offering Walker that deal.

Perhaps we'd have been better letting Kyle run down his contract or at least offer him a shorter deal but we lost a leader and one of our most important players, and I think that made the club extra determined not to lose another one in the same summer so we offered him what he wanted.
I agree, plus Mahrez left too and Palmer, so we couldn't afford to lose another on the right hand side.

I thought he had a poor second half yesterday, Sterling had the better of him and I have no idea why he was taking that free kick. Surely any of Erling, Phil, Rodri would've been a better bet.

There s a time and a place for deciding who takes a kick and when, as added pressure counts. Kyle got a great goal this season and assists but he s got realise he s not a free kick taker at a games end... Not shooting for sure, lesson learned i hope.

Saved Eddie's bacon - all those saves knocked straight out towards liverpool players instead of over or behind the goal -probably saved at least two goals today. Top performance , top athlete

Saved Bernie's to as Bernardo was adamant on trying to get a second yellow for dissent directly after his first!

He played well versus Liverpool but on the whole- I'm really not sure what he's giving us on the whole this season.

I'm far more wrong than right with my football takes, but every game that passes, my opinion of giving him an extension being the wrong one is, unfortunately, looking far more like a right one than the wrong one.

Shortly before their second he's on the right wing stood ahead of Bernardo who had the ball, clearly about 5-10 yards offside just hanging around. I'm not saying he prevents it or its in any way his fault but if he's in a normal right back position, maybe he's in a position to recover when they're clean through.

The whole point of walker is his defensive cover, he's the insurance against what happened to us twice tonight. if he's too far up the pitch to offer it whilst also not offering anything from being that far up, what's are we getting out of it?

Theres been games this season where we have pushed walker up the pitch and used him as the free man out wide, but that's been a specific tactic that has its benefits and is completely different to him just wandering.

walker is at his best when he sticks to his role and doesn't try to be anything else, I'm not sure the armband is helping him be at his best.

Walker playing on the wing doesn't work , he's the best defensive rb in world.football don't.know why pep insists on playing him so far forward

I think the armband has been the making of him and tbf it is not his fault where pep puts him and dulls his specific talents of recovery and speed

That’s exactly it. I think he’s been playing further forward instead of often being the last man, and it really hasn’t worked out. Walker needs space to build up speed but not that much.

Doesn't trust his pace anymore and stays a mile off attackers. Let that cross in far too easily.

I'll say it again-just play Lewis there. We're shocking defensively as it is. At least, he'll give us something when we're in possession.

He's been awful this year and isn't showing any signs of improvement.

I wonder if a departure to Bayern would've been preferabl, after all.
