He should have been booted out of the club when he got his cock out in that pub last year. Instead, we simply ignored a case of indecent exposure and ignored his behaviour more generally. You can forgive it when they offer leadership off the ball. Vinny and Fernandinho were captain when they were past their physical best but offered so much in setting a professional example, being a figurehead and leader for the club and being a role model for younger players and fans.
Walker offers absolutely fuck all on or off the pitch in this regard.
Apart from the embarrassment caused to the club, what sort of message does that send out in terms of professionalism, standards and setting an example as a senior player? Why on earth is he being allowed to be captain of the club? The players should never have been able to put him in that position - a decision should have been imposed on them by the management, who get paid vast sums of money to make these sort of decisions.
All we’re seeing now in his performances is the inevitable conclusion of that sort of behaviour and I’m afraid that as a club, we’ve allowed our standards to slip and we’re paying the price for it now.
