No he's not a bellend. Or rather, I couldn't give a toss what he does in a pub or elsewhere. As far as I'm concerned, he can walk down Market St every day with his cock out. (I'd probably rather not be there, but that's another matter). Now his behaviour off the pitch is then for the club to settle with him, because all players are now ambassadors of the club, whether they like it or not. I only care about what he does on the pitch, frankly.

But no, conversely, he's really not having a big dip in form, in all honesty. He's been a great servant to the club. As good as anyone. His race is run. He's not the force that he was. He's never been a great player of the ball, and his sense of positioning has been questionable, sometimes fatally so. It didn't matter so much because he had great physicality, great determination, and ferocious speed. Had them.

“Best right back the club has had”? That's a big claim. He'd be in the discussion. That discussion, incidentally, would have to include Tony Book. And probably Pablo Zabaleta. But it's a possible discussion.

Insults are out of order. A sober assessment of the situation isn't. We need another man on that side. Johnny is now injured at least two-thirds of the time. He's not the answer (and he never did look like a natural full back to me). Rico is not the answer. The lad's being pilloried on this forum, but full back is definitely not his natural position, and never was. We need another man.

I agree. That's a fair assessment. It's looking likely that his time with us is coming to an end.

I'd never abuse a player though, especially one that has been magnificent for us. That's not pointed at you, just other posts on here.

Walker has been the best right back in the league for years. He was a big part of winning the treble, winning four Premier League trophies in a row, 100 points, record after record.

Pep has also said that Walker earlier this season was playing injured and after no training for many weeks.

Now we have people on here calling him a bellend and a goon.
All true but he has been a disgrace as a Captain capped off by his dive yesterday. A sad end to a great career.

His dive was ridiculous and no doubt he'll know that.

But I dont think he's been a disgrace as Captain. He was the Captain when the team dug down to pull out a 4th title in a row when everyone thought the team was done.

Age looks like it's caught up with him fast and there is no disgrace in that.

I wouldn't let him don a blue shirt again after his theatrics yesterday, pitiful is an understatement.
Me neither, I can cope with a loss in form especially at his age. I'm far from enamoured about his off-field antics which is no example especially to other younger players .... but feigning a head injury in the way he did yesterday, especially as Captain is totally unforgivable.

Why would you want to call any City player a bellend??

Especially one that has been magnificent for us?

He's not the only one who had a dip in form but he's getting abuse and it’s fucking ridiculous.
Lots of reasons. That play acting yesterday was fucking embarrassing and just a small example of him being a bellend. Joey Barton gave his all for City but is still a dickhead

He doesn't pick himself !

It wasn't great but plenty feign injury, dive and shithouse to get players sent off.

Barton assaulted people regularly. Walker isn't like him at all.

Doesn't matter if others do it. Consider that Walker is our captain, our leader and sets the example. That yesterday was absolutely embarrassing. VAR is there, if he had wrongly got the lad sent off then it would only have been overturned anyway. Absolutely brainless the man.

I'm sick to fucking death of this bollocks about how players behave off the pitch. I don't care that he has two families, not in the least bit bothered. As long as it doesn't affect him on the pitch.

I'd agree with the assertion that he is coming to the end of a fantastic career with us in which he's won everything. It's a shame that he's stayed an extra year as it appears it's going to tarnish his stature with some of the fans.

I'm still in shock at his absolutely unfathomable dive yesterday. Absolutely embarrassing and I hope he's been big enough to apologise to the fans and to the players. He's brought shame on himself with that nonsense.

However, he's been a great right back for us, but has probably just stayed a year too long.

I don't inherently care if a player is a bit of a prick off the pitch, but I don't think those players almost ever make good captains. I wouldn't mind Kyle's behavior or his poor performances anywhere near as much if he wasn't wearing the armband. For me personally, having a Kompany or Fernandinho in the role vs Walker does make a difference.

It's not a personal vendetta against Kyle either, I also felt (blasphemous perhaps) that David Silva was a bit of an odd pick for captain - and that was the only other year since Pep's first when we weren't very good. Just think that even the best players and/or nicest guys in the sport don't necessarily make captain material.

I believe Pep talked him into staying. I do think we have a tendency to hold on to players when they are past their best due to the passage of time.

He didn't ask to be captain ..
But he very much accepted the captaincy with open arms. He could have easily passed it along just like kdb has in previous seasons. KDB has said before he doesn't fancy the off the pitch responsibilities that comes with being club captain, hence he has never been our no.1 captain, only in the leadership group. Are you saying walker could not have done the same given his personal life troubles + knowing he is not the best fit for the role?

Don't pretend he was "forced" to be captain, or he unwillingly became captain because that is not the case.

Not saying he was forced but he was chosen democratically by the most qualified people to make that decision.. It hasn't turned out the way everyone wanted..But that shouldn't lead to the type of abuse he has since received..
