2 x 2 Footed Tackles

How that twat Rooney stayed on the pitch is beyond me. A clear two footed challenge that should have been red, followed later in the game by a tirade at the ref calling him a fuckin joke.

Stuff 'em. Let them get beaten with all eleven still on the pitch. That's one less excuse they can use.

Agree with Caveman. Both sides were putting in strong tackles and sometimes committing fouls. Why would we want any of their players getting sent off, so they had another excuse for losing. We beat them with 11. Thought generally our players rose above the whining, posturing and nastiness of the rags. A bloody good job well done, that makes today so much better for me.

They weren't that bad. It was a derby and there should be tackles like that - and Zaba's on Young - flying in. Young petulantly threw the ball at Zabs, Zaba purposely went and hurt him; that's what happens in sports like rugby, I'd like it to come back in football too. Wellbeck and Barry's challenge was good to see and although Rooney's was a bit dodgy, he rightly got booked.

This is a sport played by men, but the game has become so sanitised and supporters so whiney about shit that derby day tackles have almost been eradicated. That should never have happened. Thirty years ago - if there were Internet forums - this thread wouldn't exist.

Fuck it. There were meaty challenges going in all the time and nobody was sent off and we won; a perfect derby. I'd like football to be more like last night, please and everyone from players to fans to grow some balls and enjoy stuff like that.

It's all very well you having those opinions. However, they are not shared by the FA and the referee's so the question stands. Did they deserve further punishment according to the current understanding of the laws of the game?

The one that annoyed me was the tevez booking, that is absolutely a 50/50 ball and just cos the gurner came off worse tevez gfot a booking for it, if anything it was a foul by the gurner

Welbeck had a two footed challenge

I understand that it is hard for the ref sometimes, but why the media ignore such incidents ?

Rooneys challenge got a justified yellow. It wasnt two footed as such as the second leg came into it after he had caught Milner with the first. If that was a city player I would be fuming if it was anything more than yellow.

Cant recall Welbecks.

Tevez booking was a joke. Not sure what Barry did to get booked. ANd how Giggs escaped a yellow I dont know.

Welbecks tackling style is horrible, he actually did two 2-footed lunges during the game but its the way he does them almost bum sliding that means it doesnt look bad.

Rooneys was worse than the Kompany reds of the last 2 seasons.

And if Dean booked Barry he could have booked about 7 players, Barry did no more than most

They are a load of shit when playing a decent side and resort to this style to even things up knowing that whiskey nose will combust if any get sent off like he did when jacko went against Madrid.

Their last 5 games against decent sides

Madrid 1 rags 1
Rags 1 Madrid 2
Rags 2 Chelsea 2
Chelsea 1 rags o
Rags 1 city 2

Yet put up up against any of the lesser sides and its almost a formality before the game has kicked off.

Having said that it is our piss poor results against Sunderland, Southampton, QPR and and under strength Everton side that have cost us this season.

just to remind you...

“it was a clear red card. 2 footed tackle” W Rooney….

And Ferdinand added: 'By the way how can there be any debate about the red card yesterday?? You leave the ground with a #2footTackle = Red card #fact,' on his Twitter account.

Ferguson had been quick to point an accusing finger, saying: ‘It was a sending off. He is lucky he didn’t make contact. The intention was there. It was a two-footed tackle off the ground.

the silence from this trio today is amazing

Rooney had no intention to play the ball, he dived in studs up with the intention of hurting the player
