2 x 45 minute halves to be scrapped ??

People saying throwins etc don't take long, Ill try to find the study that shows its usually 40 seconds from when the ball goes out before play resumes. When it's not midnight n I can actually focus

Most of these are just silly. Why do some people feel the need to constantly keep messing about with our beautiful game looking for ways to change it. Just let people enjoy it as they always have. Especially the one about not being able to score rebounds from penalties - what on earth is wrong with that?
I agree, the one about penalties is silly, illogical and, hopefully, will be rejected immediately. I'm also not in favour of 30 minute halves but the time saving ideas, as well as time displayed on a stadium clock, seem good ideas. Time saving changes and 45 minute halves sounds right to me.

but surly reducing a game to 30 min per half is benefitting the teams that time waste as this is the same amount of game time they are currently used too? or is that too hard for some people to understand? this will be a travesty if it happens.
In fact the claim is that 30 minute halves, with the ball being in play for almost all of it, produces as much actual game time as 45 minute halves do with all the time that is lost currently. All of the dead ball time wasting tactics will be rendered useless if the clock is stopped. Ball in play time wasting methods will not be affected by these changes.

don't like changing things in the game but I do think the time should be taken away from the ref have a separate person but in charge of it, and as said but on scoreboard.
would mean going over 55 mins per half but so what we get more for our money haha.
Although it would mess with the early leavers they will have to re-plan there exit strategy.

If the intention is to stop time wasting because it's bad, what's the point in deducting the time that the time wasters take (30 mins per game) from the get go, and making it at 60 mins game? Haven't you essentially 'reinforced' the 30 minutes time wasting doing this? I'm all for stopping the clock, but make it 70 or 80 minutes of 'in play'. Time wasters do it because they don't fancy their chances of holding out for 90 minutes. Reducing the game to 60 says "don't worry about reducing your exposure, we'll do that for you!"

Can't understand why they would need to reduce the playing time down to 2x 30 mins. Rugby league play 40 mins and stop the clock, but the total match does not last hours as some on here think footie would. As far as dribbling from a free kick, to speed up the game, is concerned it won't work as already the refs hold up play to draw on the pitch. The penalty plan is just plain bollocks

In my opinion:

Leave the 45 minute halves, but give set times for the ball to returned into play, say 15 seconds for a throw in, 20 seconds for a goal kick, with a countdown timer on the big screen. Throw goes the other way if you don't complete in time, or a corner given if the goal kick isn't taken.

Treat injuries on the pitch, let the game go on, unless it gets too near the "injured" person, or its in front of the goal.

Stop the clock after a goal, restart it from the kick off.

4 substitutes

A sin bin for the first yellow, reduce the number of "professional" fouls.

Nothing else is needed.

We might as well go the whole hog and go NBA shot clock style 3 mins without a valid shot you lose possession now that would put Pulis, Peg et al out of work! Barring that a 5 second rule at throw ins when the ball is in possession would get things moving quickly, all teams do it but when you see a player with the ball for 15 secs then flip it to the full back for another 15-20 secs it does my head in.

30 minutes in play time is perfect - about time this was introduced and all the fannying around with time wasting teams will be stopped - i especially hate it when a free kick is given near the middle of the pitch and a defender pretends he is going to take it only for him to waste time by then deciding it's going to be taken by the goalkeeper whilst everyone shuffles up the pitch wasting about 1 minute out of the match
