I think the problem with the Bernie situation is that is nothing to do with his feelings towards the club. If he wanted to go and sign for someone else because he feels like he wants to take the next step up the ladder we would all be like “ok but show us the fucking money”. With Bernie I don’t think it’s the same, it’s the sort of situation that could be mentally detrimental to him. He is a great guy and a great player and I think he genuinely loves City and the fans but if he isn’t happy in Manchester, that can have a serious impact on his mental state. I expect the club will take this into account and try and do whatever they can for him. As fans we might end up unhappy with the incoming fee, but as much as I want him to stay, it might just be the best thing all round.
