Was obvious long ago he's completely ineffective on the wing these days. We tried to get kev overlapping him first half but everton intercepted 2 of the 3 attempts and that was that.

On the whole though thought he did ok first half with some good little things but was completely anonymous and no threat at all the second (bar laying the very simple ball for Nunes to cross for the goal, in case anyone is going to be pedantic).

The ultimate compliment, no matter the activity, is to make something complex look easy. Watching Barney these days puts this definition to the test. Whereas other teams have wide players able to get the ball into the box quicker (easy), Barney just doesn't lose the ball (difficult). Little or no threat, mind. But it's not like they were constantly getting in down our right hand side either. I expect he's a nightmare to play against. Bit boring these days. But the team and coach trust him. And it did work in the end. Maybe more of an option away from home, these days. But all in all, what a player. And never hides. Love him

Ran his little legs into the ground again but the magic has gone, time to say thank you so much and goodbye.

Who has been effective on the wings this season..?
Everyone has been more effective than Bernardo. Sure, Savinho and Doku are very irregular, but just the 30 minutes from Doku today would be the best match Bernardo would have played in 2 years as a winger. Savinho in January- February had 5-6 matches where he showed incredible potential, constantly beating his rivals, creating a ton, scoring and assisting some. His Arsenal assist alone is more impressive than any other offensive action Bernardo has done in the entire season. Marmoush has had a hattrick as a winger. Grealish has had a couple of strong performances...

I'm not sure he has been that much worse than any of the alternatives this season. I agree that finally he should be allowed to go and have another footballing adventure elsewhere but nobody has been consistently decent on the wings this season

He has been worse than them all but that doesn’t tell the whole story. Doku, Savinho and Grealish have all been inconsistent since they’ve been here and they continue to be. Meanwhile, Bernie has gone from being one of the best players, in what was arguably the best side in the world, to being one of the worst players in our worst side for years. The drop off from him is incredible.

You can’t have a wide forward who can’t beat a man, can’t/wont pass forward, doesn’t create and doesnt score.

Seems to have no confidence in his ability to take a defender on and beat him, playing safe with the ball….same as Jack unfortunately…….at least Doku tries to beat his man…

Surely he is following the instruction of the manager?

Surely he is following the instruction of the manager?
Those instructions would have to be along the lines of ‘Hey Bernie, remember when you came to the club and was brilliant? Yeah well, I don’t want that anymore, those days are gone. I want you to slow everything down to walking pace, instantly kill all of our attacks, only pass to our RB and whatever you do, do not under any circumstances, try to create or score goals’. If he is following Pep’s instructions, he isn’t the problem and we actually need to sack Pep. I don’t buy it.
