No comments here after the game but I was very happy with his game.

Slightly low pass accuracy, but im fine with that given his grit, won 7/8 ground tackles.

I also think it gives an idea of where Lewis could play to get minutes instead of RB.

Also maybe Bobb or McAtee could play here, just less defensive, and more offensive.

on the pass accuracy, I've noticed past few games his aimless flicks 20 feet in the air down the pitch. Just a nothing ball to me.

Agree he played a lot better today.

Better today. I noticed he kept things a lot simpler in the middle and, dare I say, was on the outskirts of the game and got involved only when he needed to be.

Might be completely wrong there but felt like he was just another cog and not THE cog as he so often tries to be.

He lost the ball in midfield in the first 5 minutes and I said I wanted him off already, it was a stupid comment in the heat of the moment but that's because I didn't think he deserved to start after not performing pretty much all season, however I must say he was useful in midfield with his work rate and tackles in the second half, still not offering much with the ball but we do need some bite in midfield and he offered that today, I just hope Pep doesn't put him on the wing again because it's a complete waste.

I don't know how anyone sees this match and thinks he plays well. If anyone thinks he played well, then what do you all think of Kovacic, Gundogan or KDB who also run as much, pressed well, and unlike Bernardo they actually are capable of passing forward, dribbling someone and creating any danger at all.

He's by far the least threatening offensive player in any elite team.

As ever, he puts the effort in. Can't fault him for it and he did well winning the ball. Bit sloppy in possession at times (never seen him just twat it in the air as much) but can't really complain

Just on the way back from the game and I thought it was just another turgid game. Heart breaking to see all of the attacking skill he had just disappearing. Hes just making up numbers now. Seemed to be playing a game with himself of how far can he kick the ball in the air today.

Thank you. Thought I was going mad reading this thread. Guy was simply seeing how far he could hoof it today.

You are mistaken on your premise.

All 4 played well.

Bernie did his "role" as needed.

He is never going to be an offensive threat, hence the fullback overlapping and inverted winger being tasked with that.

Kev and Gundo are not happy at the lack of mentions. That said, he is wrong. When you have a gaggle of older players, younger more energetic players of similar caliber will run thrm ragged. The experience of 1 or 2 is great. But once you start inching towards 4 and 5, the compound effect will get you.

Youth is a talent? There is a reason why the 2 greatest players of this generation are playing in Saudi Arabia and the US. They've both lost the talent of youthfulness.

I just love him, his attitude, his defiance, his workrate.
City legend and one of our elite midfielders over the last twelve years:

Yaya, Fern, David, Gundo, Bernie, Kev, Phil, Rodders - all club legends

Never hides this guy. Phil could learn a thing or two from him in that regard.

One thing I loved was him just booting the ball away from danger, too many times we was defending a lead and our players would try and play it out leading to mistakes.
Agreed. Sometimes you have to just get rid and with the speed of Marmoush and the room Bournemouth were allowing O’Reilly that outlet was perfect. L’pool have used the big boot up for ages with Salah.
