Fuck me, this is where the matchday thread tossers are is it?

I don't think its unreasonable to think its the right time for him to move on. He's wanted out for years and for good chunks of last season (along with the rest of the quad) he looked tired and unmotivated.

On the other hand, he showed last season he's still capable of decent performances when played deeper through the middle.

I'd personally move him on but I'm happy enough if he stays as long as he's not getting right wing minutes over Foden or Bobb. We have Reijnders and Gonzales to bolster the spots around Rodri (or to rotate with) and Cherki/Foden in front. So if Pep can resist starting him every match, I'm happy with him as a regular squad option.

Where is he wrong? Bernardo wasn’t good last season. And a big reason for our slow approach during games. Outplayed by Gundogan during the end of the season and outplayed by Kovacic for the whole season
So because he was outplayed by two midfielders we should move him on? Bernardo is a fucking legend of our club, covered more miles than most (probably the most) during his time at City so he deserves to stay even if it is for sentimental reasons. And he fucking hates the scousers. Respect Bernardo silva

If he's ''wanted out for years'' why does he keep signing new contracts?

He played almost every minute of every game and was the only senior player to do that. without him we would have been more fucked than we were.

Also, precisely because Bernardo played a lot of minutes (due to injuries) his form dropped. If Pep starts him only once per week, Bernardo will be better than last season. Context is lost on some fans. Salah is older than him and just had his best season.

Bernardo, if fresh, can be an important squad player. Those desperate to see him leaving are just being dumb.

Yeah that makes up for it then. He was piss poor before Christmas and for a large chunk after, only found some form at the end of season. Awful going forward and poor tracking back.

Think he can be very handy as long as we use him right. We were getting stomped all over in midfield last season so Bernie being so lightweight was a weakness, but with Rodri back maybe Reijnders we should have a better grip in the middle and having him flutter around could work well. I just don't want to see him out wide again, he's completely ineffective there these days

But I'm glad he's staying and comfortable with him being part of the leadership group. He looks like he's got a point to prove and I still think he's got a lot to offer. I think he was one of the few who was still working his bollocks off and fighting for it when others seemed to down tools when we were struggling last season. I think this on the pitch and his comment “You learn who you can go to war with” off it shows he's up for it. Game on

no but if go by current skill it would be him before Kovacic. That’s all I am saying. Especially when the club has to move 2 Non-HG players.

You've never stuck with a job you weren't in love with and taken a pay rise because nothing better came along (Barca in his eyes and there was that whole psg thing)?

Look, it's been widely reported he's wanted out. Fine if you don't believe the press but it's come up several of the last few seasons.

As I said, I'm happy enough with him staying but I don't get the aggressiveness being aimed at those who think it's time he moved on. Bernardo seems to get a hell of a lot more rope than other city players for some reason. The Liverpool guard of honour was hilarious and he's been great, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if he went either.

Just became the story after 2023 contract when he wanted the move. People just assumed its the same regardless I think. No real reports of him pushing for it since.
