Abysmal. Seriously, how is the best manager of all time persisting with this?
I've been more harsh on him than almost everyone here but I'll be fair to him, he was abysmal in the first half but I thought he improved in the second half, he covered for Khusanov superbly which is why all their attacks came from the other side, and he showed great hustle to force the error and play in Erl for the game ending third goal, I still think he's mostly past it but he had flashes of the old Bernie here.Abysmal. I love the man but that was hard to watch. That’s mostly on Pep, though. Bernardo didn’t put himself at right-wing
And you have to say it worked, Dorgu had minimal impact against Bernie/Khus and most of their dangerous attacks came from the other side, Diallo had to joing Mbuemo on our Left side to be dangerous.Pep didn’t trust Bobb or Savinho vs Dorgu who is a powerhouse. None of the current options would be great there in defensive terms, Bernardo has experience at least. Wouldn't say his inclusion was a mistake.
His deficiencies are no worse than Walker'sSilva played out there because he can read the game and cover Khusanov’s deficiencies, which with the ball are considerable. That side of the pitch is going to be problematic for us this season, as all permutations have weaknesses.
They are. The lad has played fewer than 3,500 minutes of top flight football and at just 21 is incredibly raw. He looks a real prospect in terms of his defensive capabilities, but there is understandably a great deal of work to be done on his technique and passing. His deficiencies are no worse than Walker's
Again, not worse than Walker, but not for this thread I guess. They are. The lad has played fewer than 3,500 minutes of top flight football and at just 21 is incredibly raw. Walker‘s form fell off the cliff last season, but his technique and passing were superior to what Khusanov currently possesses. Here’s hoping Khusanov’s ability follows the same trajectory, but in the meantime, if we want his pace and aggression in the right-back position, then Silva will have to babysit on that side.Again, not worse than Walker, but not for this thread I guess.
Alright Pep. He was that poor(like his cameo against Spurs) it was hard to watch a once great player looking so far out of his depthPep didn’t trust Bobb or Savinho vs Dorgu who is a powerhouse. Nico has to start against Arsenal
Absolute nonsense but fair play if you actually believe thatSilva played out there because he can read the game and cover Khusanov’s deficiencies, which with the ball are considerable. That side of the pitch is going to be problematic for us this season, as all permutations have weaknesses.
We don’t have a natural right-back, so no matter which player deputises (Khusanov, Nunes, Lewis), then Guardiola is going to have to lean on a more experienced player, probably Silva, to chaperone them through games.Absolute nonsense but fair play if you actually believe that
I get that Bernardo could support a full back if we were up against a top winger or needed to keep the ball when he was a great player. Did you watch him today though? He was a complete hindrance and could do neither. Was never quick but the lad looks so far off the pace it’s cringeworthy to see.We don’t have a natural right-back, so no matter which player deputises (Khusanov, Nunes, Lewis), then Guardiola is going to have to lean on a more experienced player, probably Silva, to chaperone them through games.
