He's gone from creating almost nothing for 18 months to creating and scoring in back to back league games, if he gets that consistent productivity back it will do us a lot of good.
Yes none of that stick him on the right wing rubbish where he just can't perform anymore.Think this new 4-2-2-2 system really suits him. Allows him to press from the front without being wary of being out of position and allows him to influence play with the ball from a central position without being shunted out wide.
We could but would he be more effective than say Nico G? I see Bernardo as a big game player these days. Someone who brings us a lot of needed intangibles versus an Arsenal or Liverpool or a Real Madrid or Bayern in the CL.Not necessary or optimal but I'd still start him and then rest him for Salford.
Just following up , do you stick to this opinion or not?Sorry but hes shite, he destroys every attack.
The game never passes him by.Playing O’Reilly in midfield with Rodri frees Bernardo to float near the box and cause more chaos, instead of being stuck too deep where the game passes him by and the team also loses dominance in midfield.
The system is great. Marmoush takes pressure off Haaland. We can stop breakaways more easily. Two up front with two creators behind. It is better at breaking down packed defences.Think this new 4-2-2-2 system really suits him. Allows him to press from the front without being wary of being out of position and allows him to influence play with the ball from a central position without being shunted out wide.
Seem to remember pep saying "as long as I'm here Bernardo will be here" a while agoIf Pep stays, so will he :)
What they never show is the effect on the opponent of his dropping so deep. It completely expands the length of the pitch and alters their shape; if one player moves toward him, all the other have to shift their own positions accordingly, and the first part of our attack has been achieved. Alas, for the myopic it will only ever be about assists and goals,Sky sport have showed a map of which part of the field Bernardo fill most of the time, and it was the Defensive midfielder area
He always drop deep to help in the build up, thats why his offensive contribution is not like the past
Not because he lost his ability to create, but because of the new role.
