Think this new 4-2-2-2 system really suits him. Allows him to press from the front without being wary of being out of position and allows him to influence play with the ball from a central position without being shunted out wide.

Yes none of that stick him on the right wing rubbish where he just can't perform anymore.
 
The difference in his performances when he has some physicality and steel next to him in midfield (NicoG or O’Reilly) is night and day imo.
 
His fighting spirit and his huge heart makes him a legend for us.

Difficult to say if 1 more season for us would be the right decision, as others have to step up and fill his role,

but his impact on the pitch and for the team is not easy to replace.

I'll trust the club about that, as usual.

We could but would he be more effective than say Nico G? I see Bernardo as a big game player these days. Someone who brings us a lot of needed intangibles versus an Arsenal or Liverpool or a Real Madrid or Bayern in the CL.
Against teams like Fulham at home where we have a clear upper hand I'd prefer Phil or Reijnders. With Rodri or Nico G and now NOR I think we have more than enough cover.
 
Would love him to stay what a absolute fantastic servant to this great club and also show the newer players with his attitude

The system is great. Marmoush takes pressure off Haaland. We can stop breakaways more easily. Two up front with two creators behind. It is better at breaking down packed defences.
 
Loved his interview after the game. He’s right the experienced players, the big names in our team have to step up now like they did in that game. This is a new team so they need to lean on the experienced guys. If we get 4 months of Donna, Dias, Bernardo, Rodri, Haaland at their best then we’re gonna push on all fronts.
 
Sky sport have showed a map of which part of the field Bernardo fill most of the time, and it was the Defensive midfielder area

He always drop deep to help in the build up, thats why his offensive contribution is not like the past

What they never show is the effect on the opponent of his dropping so deep. It completely expands the length of the pitch and alters their shape; if one player moves toward him, all the other have to shift their own positions accordingly, and the first part of our attack has been achieved. Alas, for the myopic it will only ever be about assists and goals,
