I was doing the same until I finally gave up and googled 20 stories Manchester.
Feel a bit let down to be honest.

Stop drinking is the only answer. Manchester has been ruined with gentrification. The posh lot have taken over and made it their own, a working class city like London once was, that has been lost to the masses and foreign investors.

There have always been places with silly prices. I recall buying two Jack Daniels and cokes in the Midland Hotel, it came to £24 .... this was in 1995.

Over £8 for a pint in the West End maybe three years ago. Imagine it’s more now.

Go in these tart places and pay tarted-up prices and yet two traditional pubs are closing every day in England. Sad.

They probably don't sell pints, if they do it will be some fancy pale ale at about a tenner a glass.

It's quite an amusing idea that high prices keep the riff raff out. It more than likely keeps out decent people not stupid enough to get ripped off. The criminals and drug dealers will have plenty of cash and can probably sell their wares for more money in these places.

I remember years ago when clubs imposed all sorts of dress rules to keep the riff raff out. Of course these rules were just another weapon for the bouncers to refuse entry to anybody they didn't like the look of. "Sorry mate no trainers/black/,brown shoes, no shirts without a collar/no shirts with a collar blah blah blah." The scallies would go to the market and buy a suit for £35, get in and smash the place up lol.
